Hello fellow BA's, I'm looking for honest opioions here.

Another BA member and I have been trying to hash out a trade for a Rye Whiskey BA Papier and I guess we both have different views on the rarity of this bottle. Let me know your thoughts about the fairness of this proposed trade based solely on rarity, not personal preference. Here's the proposal:

    1x Rye Whiskey BA Papier
1x HF Genealogy of Morals, Anna, or Birth of Tragedy(choice to the other BA)

    For

    5x Proprietors

    Or

    3x Proprietors
    1x King Henry

Again, not looking to hear opinions based on personal preference, and this isn't a thread looking for judgement on either one of us, just looking for honest opinions based on rarity of bottles. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for your time! Cheers!

It doesn't seem like you're all that far apart based on the two options. You're more likely to set off the millionth Midwest vs. California turf war than get much objective advice with this thread, though. If the negotiation has been tricky enough that you have to open it up to the masses, is the trade really worth it? Either option seems to be reasonable enough.

I'm sorry, is your comment a joke?

None of that makes RW Papier valuable. You may have come across props easily within the seven weeks following its release, but that does not mean you didn't give up great beer for them. RW Papier is rare, but it's not a white whale...it's been out for how many years now and it's not even 100-rated. I have plenty of rare beer, doesn't make them valuable. Degree of quality + Degree of rarity + Demand = trade value. It's not even close to being worth $140, which is roughly the value of five props, and it's arguably not as good as props! And there's no demand for RW Papier. Tons of demand for props.

Less than 300 bottles of each variant of Papier were available for purchase at the old Bruery tasting room in 2009, and you could only buy one bottle of each variant. That is actual rarity.

I'm glad to hear that Proprietors is delicious and scarce, but I would not trade any Papier variant for a case of Proprietors.

It's more of a trade value proof source than what's been going on in this thread. BA Papier is like nonexistent at this point. Whales don't need to be the best beers ever, which has been quite clear. PiaPT sounds like it might be a drainpour now, but look at what that goes for. I'm sure RW Papier is much better and even more rare. Just used that as an example because it's the same brewery. Trading quantity is hard. 5 props would be delicious, but you're never going to see a RW Papier again if you give yours up, most likely.

No demand for BA Papier? What gives you that idea?

There's no doubt that it's rare...props may be pretty hard to get in a few years as well.

Lol prop's good, but <<<<< PVW BM on taste, rarity, etc.

No one actively looks for Rw Papier bc there are like no bottles and takes a ton to land. There's so much prop it's like the currency on the trade board these days.

Yeah, it's the same argument I made to you. And my low-ball offer was a counter to your proposal that I should offer you a combination of JD Cake, Proprietors, Baudonia, and King Henry for one 12oz bottle of PVW Black Magick. Talk about ridiculous. I'm probably the only person in the US with a bomber of Baudoinia and you want me to give it up for a 12oz bottle of PVW Black Magick???
