I tasted 2013 today. The spices are kicked up compared to previous releases and they overpower the pumpkin flavor. I'm glad I bought zero bottles and still have two 2012 bottles in the cellar.

I tasted 2012 Pumpkinator on draught today at Hay Merchant and it was pretty nice.

Picked up my four bottles with no problem. 12 hours after that line outside of Downtown Specs formed. Also Hay Merchant still had a few 2012 bottles. Not sure their cellar is on par with that douche on Craigslist, but it will save you about $175 (they're $20 which seems okay).

Agreed on 2012. Thought time has definitely served it well. Less spice and booze from what I recall when it was fresh.

Personally thought 2012 had more spices, this year's imo is more balanced.

Specs Clear Lake had a 3 bottle limit and had tons left at 12:30.

I swear in a few years (maybe even next) we will see people camping overnight in front of Spec's Midtown for this.

Then 10% of their shipment walked out the door with the first 3 people in line!

I thought 800 seemed kind of high, I figured the average purchase was around 1 case from what I saw.

I wish we could do this release at the brewery. It'd be one hell of a party.

I would think that would be awesome even if it was only released draft only the day or whenever before the bottle release

I've asked about releasing some on draft. From what I've gathered, we hold back a few cases/kegs, but they're for festivals or vertical tastings for years down the road. I agree, would love it available here, but we send it out to the market so as many people can have it as possible. This is our intention mind you. It's not us that set the bottle limit.

A release party would be a blast. We'd have different barrel variations, etc. Brewer's playground and a beer drinker's Smorsgasbord.

People dressed in Halloween costumes get in the VIP tent. I wonder how many people would dress as a pimp cat with cool sunglasses.

was gone by 5, or the older gentlemen was misinformed when i asked. he did tell me they sold out right at opening too though. so whatever.

and thus concludes my attempt at this year's.

however, when i checked out with a four pack of brooklyn bcs and it rang up for $7, zero fucks were given about missing out on pumpkinator.

time to drink the '12s and set aside some 13's

Someone should've told those people in line that you have a super-limited beer, less than 50 made, going for $24 each. Then give them a homebrew.
Speaking of homebrew, drinking a refreshing hefe from HopAG!

I was getting worried I was the only one excited about BCS! It's a hell of a shelf turd, and at $7 is a steal.
