It's happening again...

Think of the Caps guys! WHY WONT ANYONE THINK OF THE CAPS!?

I'm a Penguins fan.

 

Only their 12 oz bottles are twist-off. Bombers are pry-off, though this isn't the first time they've had issues. We lost a few bombers of DR12 to bad seals at Gabriel's last year.

 

Curious if they use the same caps for bombers and 12 oz. Or if the wrong caps were used for pumpkinator so some of the bottles turned out bad.

 

I've never seen a waxed Cantillon bottle before, but I don't think it's a bad idea. I've had several loons that leaked. I'm pretty sure the corks they use are useless (they're usually wet when you uncap the bottle) and the caps aren't always on tight.

 

Hm. I've never had a leaky loon.

I don't think they'd put the corks in there if they were completely useless.

 

I can drink a beer/soda from a can and taste the metal. I almost never buy cans anymore, except Karback because most of it is canned, but I can taste the metal from it. I prefer bottles all day long.

 

I've had leaky loons, and the waxing goes a long way.

 

some pumpkinator landed at one of the last spec's in austin today for those that were not in a hurry/available time earlier this week to track it down. it's the specs with the friendly tall beerguy, long hair and long beard. hopefully their limit (2) and the possibility of leaky caps will deter those looking to 'stack cases bro'.

 

I feel bad for those poor bastards that bought 8 cases....

... No... no you cannot taste the metal. Since.... you know.... the beer never actually touches metal. So unless you're licking the exterior of the can, its just your imagination.

 

Same caps for both. Still trying to figure out what happened. Especially since Endeavour is in bombers too. Although if you aren't drinking your Endeavours immediately you're doing it wrong.

 

Anyone know where I can find some tonight preferably in the heights/Northside of Houston?

 

One trick we have discussed is using a hand capper to press the cap back down on the bottle.

Something to consider for the home brewers with a hand capper lying around.

 

Ended up doing this to my bottles just to make sure the seal would be strong. None of my caps seemed off but you can never be sure.


Did you guys send out Pumpkinator to your new markets as well by chance?

 

I assume it went out to CO but I'm really not sure. Twitter probably knows for sure ; )

Opened one tonight. BARELY touched the cap with the opener and it immediately hissed and gurgled at me. Beer was in a rush to get out of the bottle

 

I'm going to be "gay" for the 1,000th time in my life and say Im very impressed on how everyone has handled this situation, especially eh hem...Houston. A couple of years ago everyone would have been throwing St A's under the bus. It's nice to see St A's recognize the f up and address it as well as most of the SW forum being understanding.
