Frank, the Saint Arnold Austin rep, was kind enough to offer to replace my leaky ones, but I went ahead and used some homebrew caps and just recapped them...I tried one of the recapped ones last night and it was tasing excellent. As for aging, I guess time will tell.

And the Pumpkinators aren't twist off.

Completely recapping IS an option, but trying to just push the existing cap back on is a slightly better one. When you take the cap off you are immediately exposing the beer to O2 and greatly reducing the life of the beer and you are going to lose some carbonation as well.

I would be curious to see how a recapped beer tastes in a month or 2. Maybe open one up for Thanksgiving and let us know how it is?

I used my bench capper to push down the caps on all 5 bottles I was lucky enough to get. 2 of the bottles hissed co2 as soon as I let off with the pressure. I pushed them down again, then I waxed all the bottles. 2 of the 5 leaked beer into the wax when I dipped them, I have to assume the same 2. I ended up triple coating them all, and air bubbles still appeared on most, I tried doing some patchwork waxing and we will see what happens. I will try opening one in a few months and seeing how it goes.

Same thing happened to me minus the wax. That bottle is 1st on the hit list.

I'm interested to find out what's the problem with some of them. The one I opened had a warped seal on the cap. So I'm not sure it's that the caps aren't on well enough as it's the actual seal on the caps. Do you think that explains why the ones you pushed down are still leaking?

It's because they were using the wrong size cork. JVR mentioned that this years batch of beers they switched to a larger cork so it shouldn't be an issue any more.

That could make sense, if the seal is compromised there is no hope of creating an airtight seal.

Seems that could be the issue right there

Greetings! Can anyone suggest a San Antonio location that might stilll have some available? My buddy tried the Canyon Golf Shell but it was already sold out when he looked. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The HEB on potranco and 1604 had some last night at like 11:30. My friend picked it up for me and sent a pic and it looked like there was a good amount.

Go buy a bottle Shiner, Fat Tire, etc.. a bottle and a can. Taste them side by side and tell me you don't taste the difference.

For those out west, I saw a number of P-Nator cases at the Bear Creek HEB last night. Did not inspect caps though.

What if I take both, pour them into a glass and ask if you can tell me which one is from the can. I'm not trying to be rude, but I honestly don't think you could tell the difference more than 50% of the time (based purely on guessing alone).

And if you can tell the difference it isn't because of the aluminum.

You might taste a difference, the can being barely perceptibly less oxidized and skunky, but in a blind test you can't taste the metal, you are right about that! The can will likely be the better of the two if anyone does notice a difference.

So it's the placebo effect... See it poured from a can and you can taste aluminum but a blind taste you can't? I'll start pouring my canned beers blind folded.
