Hey guys, I have a cousin who lives in the Sacramento area and ships me beer on a monthly basis. I have asked her to grab me some Russian Rivers and other regional brews but she is having difficulty getting some of the harder to find beers (Pliny). I was wondering what everyone is drinking out there that is readily available so I can have her ship me some beers that I don't know about. I am a big IPA fan, but won't turn down a good beer recommendation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as well as any hidden gem beer stores I could have her check for me. Thanks, you guys - RKing
Not too much in that area, other than Rubicon and Knee Deep. Hoppy Brewing is there as well but not that great of a brewery. Ask for Moylans, Drakes, Knee Deep, stuff like that.
There used to not be a lot of stuff, but it has gotten better over the years. Track 7 brewery is a cool place in a small warehouse in Sacramento. Berryessa brewing company is an awesome spot in Winters. About 40 minutes outside of Sacramento. Berryessa is awesome the only problem is she would have to ship growlers. They have a great machine that counter pressures the pours and mechanizes the top though, so it is very strong and good for shipping. For good bottle shops there is final gravity, Davis Beer Shoppe, and Two Pangea. I thought this place was a beer wasteland moving from San Francisco about 6 weeks ago, but it turns out I was pleasantly surprised. Hope this helps.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I have had Knee Deep's Hoptoloist and Simtra IPA's both pretty good compared to Massachusetts brews, especially Simtra. Keep em coming guys. Thanks,
We just got bottles of Knee Deep's Hop Shortage triple IPA. My favorite of any of their brews. Loomis Basin has just started bottling their Vindicator IPA and Auburn Alehouse bottles two of their IPA's. All three of those are also great. Mammoth also makes great beer.
Capital Beer and Taproom has a good selection. Corti Bros is good for local stuff. I'll echo Knee Deep, Track 7, Berryessa, and Rubicon. You can give Ruhstaller 1881 and Captain Black IPA a try. Sutter Buttes from Yuba City has some good stuff. Their Franklin DIPA is good and the rest are solid as well.
I know where I'll be sometime this week... You have to ask for Pliny at many places. BevMos in the area no longer carry Russian River so your best chance would be either of the total wine locations. I want to jokingly ask if your cousin is hot but I fear a private message from one of the Bro's telling me that I'm violating their terms of service and posting offensive material.
Final Gravity is awesome! I go out to RR once a month it seems like haha, wish we could get there stuff out here so I didn't have to drive lol.
