Sacramento area

Are you looking for bottle shops or tap rooms? What area in sac are you moving to?

 

Welcome back! I just moved to Sacramento this winter and have really been enjoying the scene. Let me know if you want to put together a share when things settle down for you.

I haven't gotten around to many of the esteemed taprooms, but there are some great breweries in the area now.

For bottles, Whole Foods, Capital Tap Room and Pangea see a lot of limited release stuff.

 

The last 5 years in Sacramento have been pretty fun as far as the local beer movement here. Track 7, Mraz, Device and Bike Dog are just a few of the new breweries within the last few years. Capitol Tap Room and Final Gravity are the premiere bottle shops in the area. Hell, even Sudwerk is stepping up their game!

Though not quite "Sacramento" I have always had a good experience at The Davis Beer Shoppe. They have 14 taps and usually a pretty decent bottle selection. If you look at their Facebook page, they update their tap list daily. Look at their list from last week for their 4th anniversary. Very nice timed flight release throughout the day. Unless you want to deal with a dark and loud establishment, you could also try UOB (University of Beer). They have 60 taps total, but unless they have something just exceptional on tap I steer clear of it.

A tasting group for experienced beer drinkers who have really good shit for bottle shares which you can match in quality?
Or a drinking group of people who go out and like beer but are not necessarily very experienced?

Ahh my hometown of Dixon. Glad to know there are others enjoying good craft in the tiny town!

 

That is crazy. Small world. I will be out there again in a couple weeks (weekend). If you want I can leave you my number and you can hook up with us. We usually have a bunch of different bottles and/or growlers of Pliny.

Homebrew club in Sac is Gold Country Brewers assn. there are a couple of guys in the club that can help you out with a tasting group as well.

GCBA meeting in May will be on 5-12-15 at 7pm at Jackson's Catering on Fulton ave. in Sac.

 

What part of town are you in.

 

I'm in Elk Grove. I work in the Folsom/rancho Cordova area.

 

Old Town Pizza is the spot in Elk Grove.

 

It's my new spot. I'm 5 mins away! I'll be there around 830-9pm tonight. Bringing a BAVSS and regular vss to share with their crew. I'll be down to share if anyone wants to stop by and chat it up.

 

Got lucky last night at Davis. Picked up a bottle of 2014 Surly Darkness (1st year of the barrel aged in High West), and a bottle of the Crooked Stave WWW with kumquats. Not to mention the tap list was decent.
