Hi all, I am heading to Sacramento tomorrow 3/10 until Friday of this week and looking for some tips on place to grab some good beer/food? I saw a couple places listed out on here but curious if there is anything I might be missing. I am staying near the Convention Center downtown and would prefer stuff that is within a 15 or 20 minute walk. Or maybe a short cab ride if the place is really that good. Thanks in advance or the help. Cheers, Mike
Pangaea is a couple miles away, pretty decent cafe with a nice taplist and bottleshop as well. Firestone Public House (not affiliated with the brewer) is right there and decent- lots of taps with a fair amount of locals, but usually not anything crazy rare or sought after if that's what you are hoping for. My favorite brewery in the city itself is Device, and Track 7 is solid as well but neither are super close to where you will be. Enjoy!
The largest tap selection in walking distance to you is Blackbird. 45 taps or so and well curated. 5 blocks from convention center. Plenty of other options, you're in a bar heavy section of town. The only brewery in easy walking distance is Rubicon.
If you're hankering for a brewery, you can always hop on the Blue Line at K Street and then hop off at Sac City College, which is about a 1/4 mile walk from Track 7.
Ten 22 in Old Sac, Blackbird and Ruhstaller in Downtown, the back bar at De Vere's, Firestone Public House, and Capitol Garage are right by the Convention Center. You can go a little futher and go to LowBrau, Tank House, Goldfield, or Rubicon. Rubicon might still have Grapefruit Hopsauce left. Burgers and Brew is on R St with Magpie next door. Shady Lady has some drafts along with killer cocktails. They usually have Berryessa House IPA on. Its a little further, but you could also hit Tres Hermanas for some good mexican and they have local drafts now. Golden Bear and Der Biergarten is right next door.
I visit Sacramento quite a bit, and I love Burgers & Brew too. I'll be up there again for two weeks, and I stay at the Sheraton usually across the street from the Convention Center. If you like Thai, there's Bangkok@12 on corner of I St. and 12th, hole in the wall, fantastic food, two blocks from the Convention Center. Bud's Buffet (not a buffet, btw), has great sandwiches and comfort food for lunch. Both of those places aren't really for beer, but I visit them for the food.
Check out the flaming grill. Great burgers and carne asada fries plus an awesome tap list and fresh Pliny bottles!
