A friend of mine is visiting back home to Sacramento next week and has offered to schlep some beer across the country for me. I was wondering what breweries or specific beers would be worthwhile for her to look for while she is in town that aren't available her in Iowa

There's a brewery in Davis called Sudwerk that has quality beers. Their coffee vanilla Lager is excellent.
Knee Deep Brewing is a great brewery. Simtra and Midnight Hoppiness are awesome beers if you like strong hoppy IPA's
Hoparillo (triple IPA) is also around right now. Big fan of Hoptologist and Belgo-Hoptologist as well.
Sacramento area specific beer? For bottles, anything Knee Deep. Simtra, Hoptologist, Hoparillo, Midnight Hoppiness, Imperial Tanilla. Track 7 bottles and cans their Panic IPA. She might be able to get Left Eye, Right Eye and their Riot Act Rye right now. I would get a PU240 from Auburn Alehouse. Dust Bowl has their Wrath series IPAs and Therapist Triple IPA. Heretic Gramarye, Evil Cousin, and Evil Twin. Sudwerk just released their DIPL and you can probably find their Coffee Vanilla Lager or Cascarade IPL. If they are able to bring a growler/growlette at all I would say Double Tap or Separation Anxiety from Berryessa, Milk Stout from Bike Dog, Delta King Saison from Track 7, or Brits in Moscow RIS or Basilica TIPA from Device. Don't know what isn't distributed to NY but they would be able to find Almanac sours, Lost Abbey, Firestone, Stone, Alesmith, Ballast Point, and most other brands that get distibuted to Norcal. Don't expect any Russian River. Capitol Beer and Tap Room, Final Gravity, Corti Bros, Whole Foods, Nugget Market, Total Wine, and Bevmo are the places to shop.
Short answer have her go to Final Gravity bottleshop and Taproom, last weekend I picked up fresh IPAs from Knee Deep, Fall River (Hexagenia) and Dust Bowl (Therapist). They had some Almanac sours and Upright Saisons, no i don't work there but haul from there once a month. Great people and they will assist with any questions.
