Bought the bottles based purely off of the way the labeling looked and thought they were solid beers for the price. I think I payed 3.50-4.00 for a 22oz bottle.

Anyone had their stuff? I think all they have is an IPA / Pale / Blonde? I want to cruise down to brewery one month when I make my monthly San Diego run ...

I've been impressed with Saint Archer whenever I've stopped into the tasting room. The brewers are really talented and the beers are well brewed. I tried the Double IPA in the tasting room last weekend and it was high quality.

I've run into @HopHead84 every time I've been to the St. Archer tasting room. OK, so I've only been there once, but still.

I was there for some event when they had a brown ale available with four different coffee variations and all were good. Their APA is a nice, reasonably hoppy session beer. I can see buying sixers of that in the near future. I hope to try their stout and IIPA soon.

They are doing a stout now. I had it in the tasting room a month or so back. Liked it, but wasn't blown away.

There are some situations where you want a blonde ale, and I think theirs is pretty good.

I think most people that have a problem with them more about the way they have gone about things than about their actual beer. They certainly have some talented brewers working for them at the moment.

If you're talking about the whole X-games beer lifestyle thing, then yeah, it rubbed me the wrong way. I'd forgive it if the beer was great, but its not. Its just mediocre.

(Pretty much any situation in which I might want a blonde ale I'd rather just have a well executed pilsner or other lager. Blonde ales I've had from most U.S. craft brewers rarely strike me as doing anything interesting.)

I liked their IPA, it will enter my rotation of affordable IPA's that I drink all the time. It's not Alpine or Russian River, but if you put it up against good quality 6 pack IPA's like Stone IPA, Caldera or Dale's Pale, it fits well in that group.

I'm perfectly fine with their marketing. I have zero problem with somebody who likes good beer, wants to open a brewery, but at the same time does not have beer as their main interest.

The Blonde is the best out of the 3 bottles in my opinion.

    Mr. Cranky is back.

Being within a mile of Alesmith, they had a high bar to jump. I prefer their stout to that of most other small breweries in that area, but they aren't in the Alesmith / Ballast Point / Green Flash territory.

I just hate the phrase "blown away" soooo much. We are so spoiled here. If it's good, it's good. You said you liked it. Sounds like a well made beer. I still need to try it.

You compared them to AS, BP, and GF in a conversation about their stout. AS doesn't make a regular stout. I wish they did (I hate coffee), but they don't. Is it worse than Sea Monster? I'm not a huge fan of that one. I love Double Stout. How far off from that is it?

It has coffee, so you probably won't like it. A bit of a hop kick, too. I prefer GF Double Stout, and Sea Monster for that matter.

Color me shocked - what I had in their tasting room most definitely had a coffee taste. Maybe they fooled me.

Description mentions coffee, so not surprising "Malt character consists of dark roasted malt and fresh brewed coffee flavors held up by a thick malt back bone from the Marris Otter base malt." Hell, maybe they did add coffee, but I thought it was just from the malt (and the description seems to say that), similar to what you get with The Butcher. I think they would have called it a coffee Stout instead of an American Stout if it had coffee in it, or at least added coffee somewhere in the name, and added Bird Rock in the description.

So apparently this is being released tonight at the Saint Archer tasting room. As this old thread attests, there were a number of folks, myself included, who raised a skeptical brow when these guys got started. But, beer speaks louder than "brand ambassadors", and I can't deny that I find myself really frickin' enjoying their pale/IPA/and, especially, their DIPA. Really interested to see how this one turns out.
