Wasn't questioning if Christmas was an Old Ale or not. When I read BB7 was using an Old Ale for the base I assumed it was the same as BB2. And is rather see cherries in BB2 than Christmas Ale, but that might be just me.

BB2 used Christmas Ale as well.

Well that explains it. That sounds right I guess. BB2 had cherries too, right?

Sounds like 7 has the same base, just a different barrel

One tastes like rum and pumpkins and the other tastes like a pumpkin spiced stout.

Just cracked the one I got and it's sour. Hope mine is the anomaly. Was really excited for this one.

Oh please, lets not start any unfounded infection rumors. Had one in the last two weeks at it was fine.

Ditto that. I had one a week ago and it was excellent.

Maybe you were right dude... I managed to get several bottles of this here in CO... the first 3 bottles I had were excellent... but the one I'm drinking tonight definitely has some sour/acidic qualities to it... now I am kind of worried about infection/contamination issues with this one... anyone else experience this???

I really wish this was easier to get in Austin. I managed to get one bottle and loved it. This is a beer I would drive around all day to find.

Everything is infected, all beer is too old once it leaves the brewery jeez what is wrong with all of you.

Not at all trying too start anything here... I love St. Arnold and they're the brewery that got me into craft a few years back in Houston... I've had a few bottles of BB6 that were perfect... outstanding... the one I had on Friday night... it was not...it was harsh and sour... it did not taste like the other bottled I'd had... I will assume it's just a bad bottle...

Just because the entire batch isn't infected, doesn't mean that a few who got bad bottles are FOS. No one is suggesting a revolt, just sharing their experience. The groupthink on this board is getting ridiculous.

Yeah, but all you have to do is say the I word. All of the sudden everyone is tasting flat and infected beer, when there is none. Almost every year there are threads about Bourbon County Stout and Breakfast Stout claiming they are infected. Say what you want about Saint Arnold, but they are one of the most consistent breweries I know of, and if there was/is an issue with anything I am sure one of the guys that post here would say something. Also, considering outside of two or three posts here, not one single other beer social media site has mentioned a thing about infection. If it was there, almost all of those sites would be blowing up.

I don't read the boards as extensively as some others, but I haven't seen anything about BCBS or FBS being infected. I don't see a couple bottles as something the brewery needs to make a press release over. I doubt any brewery has a 100% success with any batch of beer. I don't think a beer social media site would make a big deal out of something that isn't experienced by a bunch of people on these boards. If it's not, there's nothing wrong with saying that sucks for the poster and moving on...no need to be asses to one another because you didn't have the same experience.
