I'll say DR12 is actually tasting quite good now. I wasn't too keen on it when it was first released, like the general public. But time in the bottle has done this beer good.

In my opinion it has not improved much just got hotter but no real big developments otherwise. Honestly I would say give it another year or two.

I checked the website last night..... The DR information page now says they expect it to "shine after a year or more in the bottle"... why do I seem to remember something about peak flavor at the 5 year mark? anybody else remember them saying something about 5 years when it first came out?

Nothing...Just the bad luck of being sandwiched between probably the most popular DR..11 and arguably the best (IMO) 13.

We opened a DR 12 today at the Gman tasting. I have been on record as saying this one was sub par. Though the bomber opened today was very nice. Toasted malts, dark fruits, good body. Still not my favorite that SA has done, but it has aged very well.

I opened one of my 13s yesterday after reading this. Tasted just fine.

So it seems we have established that... drum roll... Twitter doesn't know what it's talking about.

Get me Ric Romero, I've got a lead for him.

Any chance you guys revisit DR12 in the future? Or just produce another Old Ale for Distribution?

Some bottles had a huge amount of sediment (about 1/4 of the bottle). I believe St. Arnold did everything they could to remedy that situation. I didn't get any of the "shampoo" bottles of 12, and I think it's very good. The last 13 I opened (sometime in November, I think) was fantastic.

I wonder when Lake_Speed will pop in to explain himself....

I did open a 12 recently that had a ton of sediment, so that makes sense. Tasted fine though.

I had a 12 last night also and it tasted fine. I didnt notice too much of a change from when it was released fresh.

We are glad it seems to be hitting its stride, but right now, that's pretty low on the list of things that would come back. Sorry. There are too many other options that we would prefer.

Just opened a 13...the alcohol has died down in the taste a bit and the dark fruits are more apparent than ever. Worthy of .5 star upgrade on untappd.
