Just noticed SA changed their twitter picture to a divine label. Which tends to be their trend when a particular release is coming up. Anyone know what dr14 is, or its potential release date?

what I thought we just did a DR.. Dont they usually wait a good amount of time before the next release? Seems too soon.

It depends. They have done multiple releases in a year, or sometimes just one.

ahh ok I originally started my craftbeer journey around DR11 so I have only seen 3 of them.

I know that the next Icon and BB4 should be out soon (Next few months?) but this is the first I have heard of a new DR..

No, I don't think so. I'm not sure it matters much with how much style blending happens nowadays, but saison and biere de garde are almost always considered distinct styles. Saisons are light-bodied, can be hopped, and are relatively dry, with a spicy and fruity flavor; they're more yeast driven. Biere de gardes are much maltier, with more sweetness on the front palate, usually featuring some toasty character. "Biere de garde" literally means "beer which has been kept (or lagered)," so these are traditionally lagered or vatted for periods of time (unlike saisons). Here's a pretty good description of some differences from Farmhouse Ales by Phil Markowski.

Who knows why Saint Arnold is conflating the styles. It certainly doesn't help us know what to expect from the beer, although saison is a fairly motley style to begin with.

That is correct. So far, this is probably the one I have been looking forward to the most.

Nice! I wonder how long it'll last there. If so, maybe the first weekend of August would be a nice time to visit Saint Arnold.

I want to but I'm not even in town for a few Saturdays so if it doesn't last I won't get it. :slight_frown:
