Any idea what will be going into these bad boys? My guess would be a stout for winter. To late for Pumpkinator. What you say?

On the SA FB page it said it's not a stout.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company Also... we can say that it's not a stout.

and it will be made with coco nibs as well.

I can say that I haven't been impressed with anything that SA has put in barrels.

I haven't had any of their BA beers but that's how I feel about SA in general. Just curious as to what this may be.

I feel like there is a bit of an arms race with all the breweries in Houston. Karbach has stepped it up and you have Buffalo Bayou doing some experimental things as well. No label has just started bottling and 8th Wonder is right around the corner from releasing their beer to the market. Good time to be a beer drinker in H-town.

Yes it is! The Houston scene is taking off and we are right where we want to be.

Don't like Endeavour?! They are a gateway brewery. We are starting to get our more experimental breweries up and running.

That said, I sure hope SA starts to realize they need to try something new.

Endeavour was a good start, but not nearly enough.

Endeavour IMO is their best year round brew. Outside of the Rootbeer. But all of the others just don't excite me.

I'm there with you. I used to like Elissa, but there are so many better options for IPA at the same price point.

I still look forward to the first Octoberfest and Spring Bock every year.

I can drink cask Ellissa all day long, and some of their seasonals like Christmas Ale is really good. If you like the Kolsh style, which I do, then Lawnmower is pretty much dead on. Then of coarse Endeavor. I am looking to see if the next release of Pumpkinator will be closer to what DR 9 actually was. Anyway, as much as I respect Brock and a lot of the other people that work at Saint Arnold, I am buying less and less with all the Houston competition lately. And I really have not been a fan of anything they have put in a barrel so far.

A little late to be dropping in the barrels or am I missing something?

That would be a waste of some great barrels, IMO.

The Dr12 seems like a solos beer to barrel age. I feel if you don't get this you may not get great beer.

I visited the brewery with a class a few weeks back. Brock personally gave us a tour of the brewery, not the tour you get when you visit the Brewery but an actual tour of all the brewery. He showed us his barrel room while going into the mill room, he told us we were to pretend we didn't see it so we didn't get a chance to walk around it. He basically rushed us through it both going into the mill room and leaving it. It is a very large room and they had many different styles barrel aging (they all had tags and were different from the quick glance I got, I read one that said Christmas ale). I was going to take pictures but did not want to get drop kicked by Brock. Also I know that they had gotten some of the barrels from Railean (a tequila/Rum distiller in Galveston). I know that they have a few barrel aging projects going on at the brewery from what I saw. Maybe St. Arnold's will produce something delicious.

Edit: Went to Facebook and saw they got a new shipment of barrels in and the picture they posted. No clue on what they are brewing but at least they are letting people know now that they are barrel aging.

The bourbon barrels that were shown on twitter/Facebook most recently will be filled with an in house recipe that was recently approved from test batches. There will also be coco nibs.

Any updates on a fresh batch of Endeavour? No rush...well maybe...the case the bottle shop I frequent keeps cold in back is getting awfully low.
