Who is brewing what for St Patrick's Day? We will be knocking out a SMaSH ale - Marris Otter and Citra. Brewday starts at 9am, followed up with corned beef and cabbage dinner (already in the crock pot) and then hitting the local brewpub (Water Street Brewing Co. in Binghamton, New York).
I taught a beginning brewing class (extract) at a lhbs. They were a sponsor for our recent homebrew competition, so I taught the class kind of as a "thank you" from our club. Introduced 16 new brewers to the obsession, brewed an English Pale, sampled 5 different homebrews, promoted our club, then came home and also had corned beef & cabbage that was cooked in my Oktoberfest. Did this all, assisted by our club vice president, who also happens to be my girlfriend. Great Day!
No brewing for me, but I did have friends over after work for Irish Red Ale, Cream Ale, and Mt. Dew Beer. Fun night! We also enjoyed Irish music and arcade games.
Brewed 60 gallons of a Baltic Porter with our club. Awesome day for brewing and hanging with friends.
How did your Heather Ale turn out? I'm aiming to brew one myself, but I'm leery about how much I should use and when to add it - could you offer any input on your process and the result (if you've tried it yet)? Much thanks!
Here is a link to my tasting of the beer... http://microbebrewer.blogspot.com/2012/04/st-patricks-day-heather-ale-tasting.html
