I've been looking around for reasonably-priced saisons and was very much impressed with Worker's Comp. Low ABV, quite dry, nice flavor, if not overly complex. Very clean. I'll be having more in the future.

The 7%+ saisons seem to serve a different purpose. Summer night rather than summer day perhaps. Plenty of good ones mentioned. I've got a North Coast Le Merle in the fridge for tonight. Never tried it before, but I've heard good things.

Since the thread title says preference, I prefer to enjoy Tank 7. My list.

    Tank 7
    Hennepin
    Sophie

So my answer would be more towards the higher abv.

Also, I soon plan to try those Hill Farmstead saisons, coming soon to a tap near me....can't wait.

It is draft only and only sometimes available. You will need to monitor:https://www.beermenus.com/cities/new-york-city

    Cheers!

Does my disdain for that beer somehow agitate you?

I typically think a beer is good if I like it, but I get your point. Still, saison is such a loosely defined and varied category that I think the point isn't as applicable as it would be to more tightly defined styles. FWIW.

Re: the OP I prefer lower-abv versions, in part because I like quaffing 'em on hot days, in part because I dig Notch Saison, a local at around 4%, and in part because I know that when I'm in the mood for a bigger saison, there'll be plenty to choose from compared to their lower-alcohol counterparts.

Other local saisons/farmhouse ales I dig include Cambridge Sgt Pepper; Slumbrew Flower Envy; the one-off Mayflower Squanto; and, most especially, Jack D'Or and Fieldmouse's Farewell by Pretty Things.

I am 0/2 so far with Fantome Saison.. Both exploded all over my kitchen and the remaining liquid was like sour mud. At $17 a bottle, I'm a bit gun shy to purchase again.

Nope, just clearly stating there are those that do not think it's abhorrent. Does my enjoyment of the beer agitate you?

Just thought it was odd you cherry picked my comments.

I am batting 1.000 with Fantôme Saison. It's the best-smelling beer I have ever encountered, and one of my top beers overall.

I got some Two Roads Worker's Comp. Honestly, its pretty average. Its lower abv and it drinks easy.

Sorachi Ace and Hennepin are great. Saison Rue from The Bruery is great as well. The thing about the style is there is a huge variance on what the style is. I love everything Jester King, Sante Adairius, and Mraz in the style as well. I wish I could get Convivial Suarez on the regular! Saisons with brett are usually great. Logsdons Seizoen and Seizoen Bretta are great. I need more Crooked Stave, too. I've only had Vieille and Surette.

    Really it's my favorite style.

How have only two people said HF shelf saisons?

$10 for 750 ml of bliss. You'll never need another saison again.

Must also mention To Ol if we're talking about Saisons. I've loved both I've had from them.
