In Salinas for the day,...any suggestions for beer? Bottle shops? I'm from the Central Valley and would love to try something new
I dont think you're going to find a whole lot, but if you head over to Famous Dave's, they've got good food and good taps. Well, the last time I was there, a few months ago, the taps were good. Good luck!
XL Publichouse and XL Grindhouse are at the top of Main right before the Steinbeck Center. Monterey Coast Brewing is at the other end of the same block. Zeph's One Stop is a bottle shop with a few taps
Thanks for the tips folks. I ended up stopping by Cannery Row Brewing for a drink. It was a cool place but way over priced in my opinion. Understandable for its location and proximity to touristy sites. Dropped by Bottles n' Bins around the corner which had a great selection of bottles. Lastly I went to Monterey Coast Brewing. Got a flight of all 9 brews and sad to say nothing really stood out. Nice place and atmosphere though,...I'd recommend the last one for anyone traveling the area. A good experience with okay beer.
Damn! I wish I would have seen this sooner... XL public house is actually only 3 doors down from Monterey coast brewing in Old Town. I'm surprised you didn't see it while walking up. Next time check it out. Bottle selection is awesome and so are the taps. Sunday we are having a bottle share there at 1pm, In which I will be opening up Damon and Great, or Damon and 100% BA cuir.
