That is a nice beer. In my limited experience with it, it's even nicer from gravity cask.
(and you can buy bottles of it at Nikki's)

Jesse, i did have a bottle of this beer which I posted about in a previous thread:http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/the-original-oktoberfest-beer.222972/#post-2905172

My recollection is that I enjoyed drinking that bottle of beer but it was not something I would seek out for a purchase.

Have you ever had Furst Wallerstein Zwickel? I really, really like that beer! If I can find it reasonably fresh (less than 6 months old) I buy that beer at Total Wine & More.

    Cheers!

    Jack

I had this in a Sam Adams variety pack this summer, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I would be happy to have it available year round.

Noble Pils was very easy for me to find in SE PA in 6 packs right up to its discontinuation, saw it in various Wegmans often...and I would scoop it up fairly regularly too now that I think about it.

I miss Alpine Spring. The fact it was a seasonal for only one year is pretty sad.

My local Wegmans did not stock Noble Pils.

    Cheers!

That label design looks familiar, but I think whatever beer I had by them was in a different style. I will look for it, though, since it seems that brewery is available here. Thanks.

My favorite Zwickel these days is still the Furst Wallerstein:

I've never had it. I don't recall ever seeing on shelves either. Will keep an eye open.

Gravity cask of that would be a wonderful thing to try.

I am under the impression that this beer is solely sold at Total Wine & More stores.

Maybe Rob (@RobH) can provide more details here.

    Cheers!

Do you ever make it to CT?

    Also:

I just noted that Tettnang Keller Pils has just been put on tap at the Sly Fox Brewpub. My wife loves that place. Looks like I will be drinking some of these Kellerbiers this evening. Woo-Hoo!

    “Tettnang Keller Pils
An unfiltered varietal Pils hopped exclusively with noble German Tettnang hops.

    11.7 OG | 46 IBUs | 4.8% ABV

On tap @: Phoenixville & Pottstown”

I'd stick with Sunshine Pils if I had a choice, when its fresh it's outstanding, I like a bit more hop profile than say Trauger or Capt Jack from Old Mecklenburg. I'll admit I'm predijuced against most SA beers, doubt I'll try this one.

That beer is a summer seasonal. Which Pilsners do you prefer for the other times of the year?

    Cheers!

Usually Old Meck Capt Jack, it's a low Ibu , lower hop profile than say Prima, which is my co favorite. I think Capt Jack is more similar to Trauger.

I think this is it as well (name / marketing change to boost sales). The name "Noble Pils" sounds very beer elitist sounding, and pilsners as a style are aimed at a wide audience of beer drinkers. Downtime Pilsner sounds much more approachable.

Now with that said, and the fact most feedback I've read and myself feel the Noble Pils was a slightly better pilsner I don't know why they didn't just change the name but keep the same formulation. Perhaps the ingredients are slightly cheaper as well in the Downtime Pilsner so it boosts the bottom line. Business reasons perhaps.

One aspect of Trauger Pils is that it has a noticeable (and pleasant to my palate) cracker like malt flavor. Does Capt. Jack have a similar malt flavor?

    Cheers!

Capt Jack to my uneducated palate tastes like an Ayinger Fest beer, which I love , I'd call it bready if that applies. Pours nice thick heads, you can take a glass in one pull its so smooth.

Sounds like a good description to me. I would suggest there is a fine line between cracker-like and bready.

    Cheers!
