Just saw that Sam Adams will be releasing "Fat Jack" pumpkin ale. I had this on draft last year when.it was simply named "Double Pumpkin" and really thought it was one of the better pumpkin beers I've had. Nowadays I don't normally drink SA products and I am fully aware of.the whole debate of whether SA is "craft beer" but I am intrigued to see if this will be as good in the bottle as it was on draft last year. SA was my entry point into craft back in the 90's so I can't knock e. So anyways, wondering if any other BA had this beer last year and wonder what they thought about it?

I have so far avoided pumpkin beers/ales altogether but @ 8.5% I may have to start w/Sam's

Had their Double Pumpkin Ale last year. I wonder if they're changing the recipe or just re-branding as Fat Jack?

Schafly and Dogfish Head (my go-to pumpkins, in that order) are both > 7% IIRC, but 8.5% will certainly do for me. I love the pumpkin beer, if this one is available in Chicago in October I'll definitely give it a run.

I like the regular pumpkin ale, so I bet this will be solid. I am not a huge pumpkin beer fan. They are doing very good things at SA's.

I had this on draft at a pumpkin festival last year and thought it was really delicious. I can't wait to grab some bottles of this.

I have to be honest. I had their regular Pumpkin Ale on tap last year and it still is one of the least favorite beers I've had in recent memory. That being said, I will definitely keep on open mind with this one.

Is it just me or does the label have any eerie similarities to Hopslam

I will definitely give it a go. Share a bottle between 3 or 4 of us.

The "debate" about Sam Adams not being craft beer is just silly...

I hear you. I just wanted to avoid the whole thing which may be hard since I am talking about one of their beers. Anyways, really dug this beer last year and am anxious to taste the bottled version.

It's about time! I can't wait to get a hold of one or three of these depending on how it tastes. I'm particularly looking forward to this one since I've never tried it, but I'm sure while I drink it I'll be thinking of Pumking.

Let's see. Different shapes, different color schemes, different fonts, different hand positions and one figure holding a spoon, one figure with a face and one without, one with a cleaner simpler style and the other kind of busy, one appears to be a man slammed by a giant hop and the other pumpkin with human arms and legs. I don't there is any plagiarism going on in this case.

DOn't mean to thread jack, but why is their a debate about Sam being craft? They use quality ingredients/methods to brew, they give a lot back to the beer community, they are veterans of the craft movement in general. WHy wouldn't they be craft anymore? Because they are so popular?

I can't wait to try that pumpkin beer, it sounds great. (hopslam label does look the same though!)
