It appears that we can't get this in the Upstate any longer, does anyone know of a similar beer, it's not for me, I have friends asking me, I haven't had a SAL in about 15 years

Same type of question, but hydromax/New York. Also for a friend

You’re both asking “for a friend”..... This is like a bad eighties sitcom scene. Is Sam Adams Light that much of a thing to be ashamed of ?

I lied, not for a real friend, a bunch of my customers have been asking, I guess some are friends

Maybe Oskar Blues Beerito. Vienna Lager brewed with noble hops, 4.5% abv, 120 calories.

It looks like Sam Adams has dialed back their normal line-up quite a bit. I'm guessing Sam Light is one of those items that got the axe.
The new'ish Sam 76 is only 131 calories and it has quite a bit of flavor without being too bold for most people.

They should bring back Lightship. That was a solid light lager without trying to be a "Light" Version of SABL.

I used to drink a ton of Amstel Light. Actually very tasty and low cal.
A 12-oz. bottle of Amstel Light contains only 95 calories and is around 3.5% ABV.
A solid light beer with good flavors.

How about Yuengling Light Lager (not to be confused with Yuengling Light). Brewed in PA, just like Sam Adams is. ;-)

If low-ABV, but not "light" craft beer is option Founder's Solid Gold (4.4% ABV) and Firestone Lager (4.5% ABV) might also be good substitutes.

Heineken Light might fit the bill too... it's nicely hopped for a light beer, but it's far more pale colored than Sam Light.

I’ve bought Sam Light a few times in the past and always thought it was decent. Surprised they axed it especially with the trend towards craft light beers /AAL styles. My guess is that They are aware of the market and will be rebranding it teformulating it slightly to meet this new craft beer customer demand for AAL.

Randy (@Ranbot) provided the answer above, the sub would be Yuengling Light Lager.

    Cheers!

    It's still on their website
    https://www.samueladams.com/our-beers/brewmasters-collection/amber-lager/light

It being unavailable in "upstate" South Carolina (likely simply because the local BBC distributor dropped it) does not mean the beer is no longer brewed, or distributed elsewhere. A call to their toll free customer service number (888-661-2337) just now confirmed they're still brewing it.
