Been wanting to try the Scotch Ale for a long time. Will definitely have to pick this pack up at some point. The fact that Noble Pils is back is just icing on the cake for me.

Very underrated beer, in my opinion. Wish they sold it in 6 packs.

Can't even think about this right now. We have not even had out first snowfall yet. But, I almost always pick up the SA seasonal packs.

They must use a ton of hops in the Noble Pils. Has a great smell and taste. Guess that's why the label is green.

I was contemplating posting this exact same message but you beat me to it.

And you are 100% correct that the timing of this release is CRAZY!!:grimacing:

    Cheers!

I thought the same thing, then I always remember beer companies are releasing seasonals quarterly rather than seasonally. At least according to @sierranevadabill.

The end of December is a tad early, but assuming the winter seasonals are on the shelves roughly during Q4 (Oct - Dec), this makes sense. I typically see Summer Ale around late March/early April in Boston, so this fits.

In addition to this, my beers were all bottled in the November 29th to December 1st timeframe. For beers such as Noble Pils you may want to grab this mix pack sooner rather than later if you're interested. Or wait for the next batch if there is one.

I have no doubt that Boston Beer Company has business reasons for their release schedules. Having stated that is makes little to no sense from a consumer perspective. For example I personally have zero interest in purchasing and drinking spring beers now. By the time I would like to drink spring beers the Sam Adams spring beers will be too old and I consequently I will personally be disinclined to purchase this mix-pack.

Based upon some posts by others in this thread the early introduction of spring beers does not seem to be an issue with them purchasing these beers now.

I still stand by my previous comment that getting spring 2016 beers on the market just one week after the first day of winter is CRAZY!!

    Cheers!

I face the exact same issue as you. I think this pack sounds quite intriguing (besides BL and Cold Snap), but do I really want spring beers right now? I commonly find myself in the situation where it's released too early, but by time it's "in season" it's older than I prefer and will generally pass. I'd venture to say, however, that many BA's don't mind this, and ultimately I don't find it to be that big a deal.

Additionally, I'm curious how much geography plays into this. Living in NY and PA respectively, we get our fair share of winter weather, and spring beers just seem out of place (especially this early). But if one was to live in California, let's say, do they get that same feeling? Drinking seasonally only makes sense if you actually have four seasons, haha

I might be in the minority here, but I wouldn't mind seeing Alpine Spring make a return. It was a decent replacement for Noble Pils but BBC had to go ahead and replace it with yet another boring White Ale (which eventually came to be Cold Snap, if I'm not mistaken). Enough with the white ale obsession, you guys already have an over-spiced wheat beer with for summer and another dullard of a white ale for Christmas and now Spring again. Switch it up a bit.

I'll pick one up when I see it. Haven't had most of these. The Scotch ale sounds familiar, maybe from a variety pack a few years back, or maybe Scottish ale? I dunno.

Winter Pack, Hopology and now this? Sam Adams has been putting out awesome variety packs as of late. Count me in on grabbing this when I see it!

I wholeheartedly agree with you, it is nuts. But, I'm in the camp that it's not an issue with me personally. If that's when they release it, then I'll buy it because I want the beer as fresh as possible.

I've always liked Cold Snap more than most people seem to and the rest sounds very solid as well. But the spring sampler two days after Christmas is where I draw the line. Wake me up in a couple months.

Shot thru one of my locals yesterday, lots'a Winter variety packs, no Spring. Guess the Midwest doesn't want to push the season.

As long as they don't put Cherry Wheat in, I'll try anything

The Winter Pack was pretty good too. Sam's is pretty consistent and I think if their beers didn't say their name on them they would rate higher. I love Noble Pils. It's a great go to session beer. Very under rated.

I loved Alpine Spring and miss it, hoping it makes a comeback one day.

It just means all the winter beers will go on sale to make room for the spring beers. Just in time for actual winter weather. I will happily drink SA Winter Lager all January and February at a discount!
