$13. That's a huge rise in a day. Any idea why?

    *Chuck E. Cheese's

(I never knew Atari was behind Chuck E. Cheese's, though. I guess it makes sense when you think about it--the last time I was at one, they were one of the only places nearby that still had arcade games, some of them early/mid-'80s ones that might have actually been made by Atari--but somehow I never heard of the connection until now.)

Sure that sounds like a great idea to introduce kids to quality beer at an early age, do you think they will still have a ball pit?

Definitely. A few of the larger locales will also feature beer-filled wave pools. Beer "water" parks are about to become a big thing.

Agreed on both counts. Although I do visit the one in Manchester whenever I fly out of there. The problem is, they only had a couple BBC beers which was basically the same BBC selection as any local chain restaurant (Chili's, 99s, Applebees, whatever).

To the OP's point, I'd certainly try it out. Especially if they had rarer stuff. I had KMF at a tasting event somewhat recently and that was a nice treat.

Certainly not a particularly novel concept, having said that. I'm sure there are other plenty of brewery-specific brewpubs out there. There's a Shipyard brewpub nearby in fact. I've never been because, well, Shipyard. But still.

Horrible idea...it would be another place that sold mediocre beer. The world has enough of those places.

It is illegal for Sam Adams, or any other manufacturer of beer, to own a bar. Most states allow one or two taprooms to go along with a production facility. If a beer manufacturer is licensed as a brewpub, like Breckenridge, they are allowed multiple locations. There are other restrictions on Brewpubs, which vary greatly by state, but generally they limit production amounts, require a certain amount of food sales per barrel produced, and greatly restrict self-distribution activities.
A beer manufacturer can license out their name to a third party who could then open multiple bars. This has some obvious risks to the manufacturer- image control, etc.
think about it this way folks, if you could do it, every bar around would be a Bud bar, a Miller bar, or a Coors bar, which is the reason it is illegal in the first place! Craft beer wouldn't stand a chance!

They have these at airports. Though they only like 6-7 taps.

I think that would be a great move for them. It would generate excitement and offer them a forum in which to showcase some limited release and test batch beers. I'd image that despite what they say here on the forums, most of the local BA would check it out at least once as would out of towners when they visit. Unrelated, but I still want that Sam Adams deck at Fenway to happen as well.

I'm assuming Dogfish Head must fall under the brewpub category. They have "alehouses" in DE, MD and VA. They all operate as restaurants (pretty good food!) that exclusively serve DFH beer. I think this model would work well for Sam Adams, but I'm not sure what the legal issues are that they would have to address to start something like this.
