anyone know where to get one in the philadelphia area? the low reviews are hilarious. sounds like a must try now ...
I would be surprised if it was on the shelf anywhere, the last time they made it was in 1997 I believe. I really want to try that beer to see if it lives up to the infamy.
From what I hear, there are still some on shelves around. If not, I'm sure someone would trade you one for very little. The beer is worth trying, but in the same way that a smelly finger is worth sniffing. You will get no pleasure from the experience other than that of morbid curiosity.
Discount Liquors here in Milwaukee has it on the shelf. I think they are down to 5 bottles. I got suckered in a bought one once, boy was it a treat.
This place http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/9653/view=beerfly in Bristol VA had about a half dozen bottles of '97 vintage in an original case box a year or so ago. They were tucked deep on a bottom shelf as if forgotten. I considered picking one up just because the chance of running across them again was pretty scarce but, having already tried it in the past, I decided I'd rather pass a kidney stone. I did try to talk them out of the box but they wouldn't capitulate.
Ha, I've never even noticed it there, odd. I actually have read on another messageboard lately that at a tasting, there was a pouring of the 1994 and it was actually..... good.
Dude, the 94 is pretty darn amazing. And then the 97, I wouldn't wish on ANYONE. But then again, I would love to buy a bottle and share it with a friend for the experience of seeing their face.
