Sam Adams Utopias

I did a fairly thorough online search a few weeks ago and didn't have any luck. Check Beer Menus near you and see if there are any locally. Otherwise you can overpay on *.

 

I was back in MA at the end of June and saw it on several store shelves

 

A store near my place was just advertising it for sale on a giant billboard. You can't buy it online but they are easy to track down around here

 

Any idea what they're charging?

 

I want to say they were all between $170-200

 

Somewhere around $200. More often under that than over.

if anyone can get the 2012 for less than 200 hit me up. it is 200+ locally for me.

 

I got it a few weeks ago from $185 including tax. I will see if they have any more left and let you know.

 

Glen cove has it for 250 but he said he would sell it under 2. Think he's afraid of it sitting there forever. Make him an offer

 

There might be some here in CT for under $200 (maybe 179.99 before tax), but not sure which year.

Whole Foods had it for 199.99. I think they received like 6 bottles or less for those stores that got it...

Speaking of Utopias, what do these trade for? 1:1 for a Rare? 1:2 for a BA Huna and BA DL? Would one land a KBE+? Just curious.

 

utopias is probably the most situational beer trade around. it tends to sit on shelves in some places for quite a while because of its very high cost so it's really not all that hard to track down, which makes it a very complex beer to calculate a trade value for. because of this, you're not going to see people trying to trade, say, BA dark lord for it. i've been very wrong before, but don't get your hopes up on getting something mega rare (assuming you're the one with utopias). i

also, to me, utopias was good, but there's no way i'd ever buy a bottle for myself. it's the kind of thing i'm happy to try but 1-2 oz is more than i'd ever want.

 

What's better ? The 11 or 13?

Just a FYI, OP. I read somewhere that the latest release was blended with cosmic mother funkier, their sour beer. I haven't tried it, but it must be different from other releases. I have had 05,07,09 and 11 and they were all delish. Not sure how it is with the sour. If he doesn't like sours, you might want to consider a different release
