So, to the extent that i am a beer geek, i am also a coffee geek.

I stopped by a new brewery about 30 miles from home tonight, named Solemn Oath brewery, and they have a Pale Wheat Ale that they have made four version of, the pure base beer, and then 3 different coffee regions added into it. I didn't have the chance to do the flight that they offer(picked up an ipa growler for home after dinner) but i plan to soon, as this is very intriguing. I am always skeptical as to how much the coffee subtleties per region will come out through something such as a beer, although i normally say this in response to a beer like Speedway Stout, which is much bigger. I am excited to get into this one soon, and will report back.

But what i came here top ask, was if anyone else knows of a brewery using multiple coffee regions in the same base beer, and have you done a side x side to see how much their subtleties poke through?

The closest thing i can think of is the two years of BCBCS, and that the second batch had a more acidic coffee structure into it, but obviously this was far from side x side, and not a very good comparison.

Hardywood Park out of Richmond, VA made a coffee porter during the late winter that they bottled. They had an event, though, where they brewed it with three different local coffees and aged each in bourbon barrels. I only got to try two, but it was really cool to see the difference that coffee alone could make. I think too many breweries think that they can throw any shitty coffee into a beer to make a great coffee stout/porter/etc., which is why so many coffee beers are so mediocre.

As well, and no surprise, I am a coffee lover all my life! I can always tell how the coffee is by how the over taste of the stout or porter, and it really makes a difference.

    I enjoy this one:

Different batches of Epic Big Bad Baptist have different coffee.

That explains why some bottles are better than others...

Besides changing it up for bottled batches, Goose Island has experimented with different varieties of Intelligensia beans in draft versions of BCBCS. But the only place I've seen multiple variations available at one time has been FOBAB.

Left hand is doing something very similar with Allegro Coffee, but I think it may just be tap room only.

You beat me to the punch, but I can still add that if you go onto Epic's website, they tell you what kind of coffee goes into each batch.

There's Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast and Beer Geek Brunch Weasel.

I've had both, but not side-by-side. I don't know if they bottle-date, but I'm pretty sure these beers have, at some point, been brewed at roughly the same time, so you should be able to find bottles of the same age.
