And then if you like the 'one now,' go back and get the rest of them for adding to your cellar. It's a great beer, but I wouldn't drink one on a hot day to quench your thirst.

I was fortunate enough to have a couple sips of a 1997, absolutely one of the most amazing beers I ever had. If you want to call it that it was more on the line of a Port wine or cognac. Get it, age it, and enjoy it!

One of the oldest beers I've ever had was a 1987 Samichlaus, enjoyed last year, and it was really something special. Being able to try bottles of this style with that much age is what really got me into hoarding certain beers. I'd say given the right amount of time and proper storage, these hold up just as well as any world class old/strong ale. I count on my older beer collecting friends to share these, Thomas Hardy's, Courage IRS, and others from time to time. They are all fantastic treats, true sipping beers.

Anyone have any experience with aging of the Helles version? I have both available to me locally and they seem pretty old already I wanna get both 4 packs.

I had the 2007 in 2012 and again in 2013. It was sublime. Very sweet, mind you, but sublime. It's the reason I won't touch my remaining Helles 2010's until next year. At that point it's almost more akin to an aged English barleywine/old ale. Raisins, caramel, faint nut, port wine. Rum candy.

Both. Try one now and put some aside to age.
