I will give this a try because its SA but I don't see this being anything like GF Sculpin which was pretty tasty IMO.

I enjoyed drinking this beer but if you have expectations of it being like GF Sculpin you will likely have mixed feelings:
    • It does not taste exactly like GF Sculpin (a con I suspect for you)
    • You will have a lot more money in your wallet since a 6-pack of this beer does not cost $15+ (a HUGE pro for me).
    Cheers!

Yeah GF Sculpin does dig in the wallet a little bit, I'm gonna try SA GF for sure. Not really have expectation of it tasting like sculpin just hope its a tasty brew. Cheers!

    That is wise IMO.
FWIW I enjoy it. It has a tiny bit of a tart aspect but I personally enjoy that feature (and the other flavors/qualities it has). Needless to say but YMMV.

    Cheers!

I figured it would be a drinkable beer SA doesn't make shitty beer. I'm glad to see them doing different things it felt like they were getting left behind with the way craft is going.

So I had this in a promo bottle, draft, and on can from the Rebel can mix pack. The can was much better than the other two.....same with the Rebel Rouser can I had (which brought it from a 3.75 to a 4.25 in my book).

    Long live the can.

Finally got a sixer of SN GF.. can't lie this beer is a winner. I love Grapefruit Sulpin but this San Adams version is half the price and does the trick of you're thirsting for something tropical with hops

This is slightly off topic. I can't believe how many people like Grapefruit Sculpin. It tastes so artificial. It doesn't help that I don't like regular Sculpin either (never have).

I have not tried rebel grapefruit, but there is zero chance it will be as bad as gf sculpin in my book.

My dislike for Rebel Rouser probably will taint my tastebuds should I be adventurous enough to give this one a try. Also, I just find Grapefruit Sculpin tastes like they just squeezed some off spec grapefruit juice in at the last moment....that's just me....each to their own taste buds. I would love to find a really good grapefruit tasting beer though.

These beers brewed with grapefruit juice taste like vomit (pardon my harsh description).
Give me an amarillo heavy IPA and use grapefruit zest if you must.

I've had this and will buy it again. Refreshing and delicious. Great Summer beer for a warm afternoon.

I was really wanting to like the Rebel grapefruit IPA. It's OK, and very drinkable but not impressive.
I do enjoy the grapefruit flavors that are present in a lot of hoppy beers, but adding actual fruit in the beer does NOT make the experience better.

Good one! I agree that if you don't like anything SA puts out then why even click on this, I really enjoyed this offering and thought it came through very well.

Bought a sixer of this. Not bad if a bit sweet for me. Loads of grapefruit flavor in the front and some bitterness from the hops on the back end.

I am not down on Sam Adams as much as many folks on BA, but I will say this was a disappointing beer. The grapefruit as others have mentioned is very much in the nose and the flavor your get seems artificial, SA can do better. Grapefruit Sculpin is decent but I can get better from local breweries. But...everyone has a different palate so I could see how this beer would appeal to some folks.

Been drinking this for about past month. I like Sculpin too, but haven't had it in a while. I'd say they are pretty equivalent. Hate to say it but the higher price for Sculpin probably made me rate it higher.

I personally enjoyed this beer. Nice effort, good flavor and always a refresher........
