I didn't like this beer much at all, the grapefruit flavor was very artificial tasting and overpowering. I'd probably drink it over a bud light but not much else.

Grapefruit Sculpin all day. Sam Adams has the aroma, but that's it. Not impressed.

The most extreme I've seen is Tired Hands on their growler tags. "Drink within 48 hours".

The body on this seems very weak. I didnt expect it to be complex more like somewhere in the middle but its not even that its the opposite of complex.

So this is rolling out in 6 packs and I was able to have some over the weekend. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I knew it wouldn't be anything earth-shattering, but it's what you'd expect it to be. For how cheap and easy it is to find, I can see myself drinking this again. I hope they come out with 12 packs of this-- would be nice to have as the weather warms up.

Local publix stores down here in Florida had BOGO on the rebel series so I grabbed a 6 pack of rebel rouser and 6 pack of grapefruit rebel. I've had grapefruit on draight before. And thought it was decent. Can't go wrong with 12 craft beers for 10.00 to have on hand for the random beer enthusiast.

No real desire to try this. GF sculpin pretty much nailed the style and every other GF beer I've tried has come up short. Not to mention I'm always disappointed with Sam Adams beers anyway.

Call me a fan. Priced at $7/sixer. It's a different kind of GF flavor than GF Sculpin, but I am growing fond of it. It's actually the first SA beer that has felt vividly bright in flavor in years. It's not a malty mess.. Maybe a bit too sweet (from the GF juices). Sessionable comes to mind with its lower (than normal IPAs) ABV.

I want to say this one would do quite well in a blind sampling.. So much SA hate around here... I was really really surprised to see the BA score of this beer in the 82 range. I would pin this closer to the saturated 91 range imho. SA hasn't had a solid 4 with me in years.

There's almost nothing "hoppy" about it. From the aromatics to the flavor. It does seem a bit like a standard pale ale got mixed with some pungent GF peel, and juice. It's easier to call out the big guys who "cheat". But others get a pass.

Quite a refreshing citrus tartness/bitterness about it. Even the GF aroma seems a bit off. It's not exactly memorable, but thhere is a thristy quenching ability that this one has. I think because I finally found it fresh, it has that brightness/cleanness I look for in many beers. I hope this gets bought enough to where I dont have to try nearly expired Rebel GF IPA and come back here and say I hate it

If Brewers didn't try to brew other Brewers brews... We wouldn't have 1/10 of the great beers we have today. Just because a brand makes an awesome beer doesn't mean another brand can't try its hand at it. Whether it's strictly to make money on the market or if it's because they believe this beer is a hit could be questioned but damn people.. Stop hating about copying

Pretty much my take as well. I enjoyed it but by the end of the glass I had enough, would drink this from time to time but not often. Would gladly take one in a mixed pack, if someone handed one to me or there wasn't much else on a draft list, though.

IPAs, the new wine coolers of beer. :grinning:

This stuff is pretty foul if you are expecting something that resembles Sculpin grapefruit IPA. Extremely piney and has a pledge furniture quality like no other beer I've experienced.

I could be wrong, but I think that has more to do with carbonation than freshness.

Actually prefer this over GF Sculpin. Too me Sclups has a weird candylike sweetness to it, where this one just tastes like grapefruit juice and light malts. Not the best, but a lot more representative of grapefruit flavor without the bitterness than any other grapefruit beer I've had.

I tried this last weekend and it was pretty tasty in my opinion! I have a bit of soft spot for Sam Adams as they're my "fall back beer" and I still really like some of the season releases (Cold Snap is my jam!). I also really like grapefruit, so c'mon. I was honestly a little skeptical about this, because I tend not to like their IPAs, but I thought this was quite nice, especially for the 80 degree weather we're having in SoCal right now.

I still need to try this one, maybe this weekend. I was a bit disappointed with GF Sculpin. Hopefully I like this one a bit more.
