Samuel Smith Underwhelming

    I think Sam Smith beers are great. They might not be as strong as a lot of current US beers, but that does not mean they aren't great.

    My first beer was Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale and at the time I thought it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. Fast forward two - three years when I had it again and it was only "good" as the OP was saying. Really do like their Oatmeal Stout and Imperial Stout though, I feel like they are solidly done examples of their respective styles.

    Not every beer is going to be to the greatest beer you've ever had. In fact, I'd go so far as to say most beers I drink are "underwhelming". I think it has more to do with expectations. The one beer from them I was a little disappointed with was Yorkshire Stingo. But that was because my expectations were HIGHER for that than they were for their other offerings.
