Visiting San Antonio next month. Can you recommend a few breweries I should check out while I'm there?

Freetail - brewpub on 1604 and brewery tasting room south of downtown.
The Granary Brewery and BBQ and Southerleigh Brewery in the Pearl complex.
Alamo Brewery has a nice set up between downtown and the Pearl.
There are a couple more in industrial complexes but you are better off just trying their beers at a pub.

^^^ What he said. Freetail definitely won't disappoint. Granary and Southerleigh both have excellent food in addition to good beer. Ranger Creek and Branchline both make very good beers, but I don't think either of them have regular taproom hours.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to be at Schlitterbahn for a day. Anything in New Braincells worth a visit?

Guadalupe Brewing is doing nice things in New Braunfels.

If you have a car, a trip to Austin is more than worth the drive.

@FreetailBrewing is the best thing going in SA, though.

Ahh, don't think Austin is in the cards. Will only be in town for about 5 days, with 1 day dedicated to Schlitterbahn and 1 day at the beach.

What beach? If Port Aransas, don't waste your time going to Port Aransas Brewing.

Yep, Port Arsansas. Thanks for the heads up!

Any recommendations for places to eat or drink while I'm there?

There's a place called Beaches owned by the PA brewing guy, but they have taps. Mostly light stuff but usually have Live Oak Hefe

PA Brewing has decent food, just order the guest beers.

Also in SA... Busted Sandal is decent, but only have 3-4 brews on tap. Not sure of their tap room hours, it's pretty tiny

    Info about New Braunfels:

There is a nice little craft beer bar in New Braunfels called Patek's. It is actually within walking distance to Schlitterbahn and has a decent tap and bottle/can selection. New Braunfels Brewing is downtown along with Faust Brewing and neither are worth bragging about but they are within walking distance to each other. The Phoenix Saloon in downtown NB has a lot of beers on tap (usually a good selection of decent Austin and San Antonio breweries) and the chili is excellent.

I'm in San Antonio for the summer from SC. Is Yellow Rose hard to find around here? I've been wanting to try it. Thanks guys, cheers!

Looking for bottles or draft? It's a regular at Big Hops on draft. I've found it at most beer stores as well. Northwest Food Mart probably your best bet.

Thanks man! I want to have it on draft just to try it, but I'd love to get some bottles too, especially for when I head back home. Cheers!

Be careful with bottles. If you read through the forum you'll see there is a lot of bottle variation and there is no way of telling how old they are if you find them in the store. Your best bet would be a growler from Big Hops.
