Any advice for a Chicagoan spending this weekend in San Diego? I'm particularly interested in Alpine and any other recommended breweries/beers that don't get distributed at home. I'm also looking for bottle shops that would still have the Firestone Reserve Series beers available, particularly Parabola or any of the Anniversary blends (while they do get distributed to Chicago they last only a few hours). Also open to considering trades for local Chicago stuff or the few things in my cellar of which there are multiples: http://www.beercellar.me/cellar/mogewop. Thanks.
Search is you're friend. Also, your cellar link doesn't work. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-san-diego-summer-2014.191343/
Do yourself a favor and order a Vietnamese Speedway and/or BA Numbskull. I'm pretty sure pickups start this weekend. Go to Societe.
They go on sale in an hour and can get picked up as early as Saturday. You won't find Parabola or any FW stuff that easily. For some odd reason, it is more difficult to get FW special releases in San Diego than it is in much of the rest of the country.
If you go to Alpine, go Saturday to get the full experience of the brewery and brewpub. The brewery is closed Sunday and Monday. The brewpub is closed on Monday. The pub will sell bottles if the brewery is closed. But no growler fills. Check their site for hours. They also have a webcam at the brewery to see whats available in bottles and growler fills.
I'm guessing you are already out here. I have 2014 parabola, stickee monkey, sucaba, and 2013 DDBA. I could probaby get you the last anniversary beer as well. I don't supose you brought out any Dark Lord out here? ....Also, what part of SD are you in? Great Liquor Stores new Downtown SD: Best Damn Beer Shop on 7th st, or go south to to Southbay Liquor in Chula Vista. I think they had a few FW reserve series a few weeks ago when I was there.
Sorry man, already left and no DL (didn't end up bringing anything, actually). Thanks for the heads-up on the bottle shops.
