Alright everyone, I've done some research and I'm from Orange County anyway, so I'm not nearly as clueless as most. A buddy of mine is turning 30 and wants to do a San Diego trip this weekend. Note that of the people going I'm the only one that likes IPAs, and since this isn't about me, we want places that have a wider variety to offer. We'll go down Sat around noon and hit the Ballast Point Restaurant for late lunch and then Societe and Alesmith on our way down. After some digging around, I see that the Lafayette is the place to stay, so I booked that for us already. We'll check in there and maybe walk down to Toronado for some more drinks. Have a late dinner (need advice on where to go, cab required?) and then return to 30th and just walk that area (I really want to hit Modern Times) until we are full or the places close. Sunday we'll hit Stone on the way up to fill grolwers and Pizza Port for food. So, any recommendations for where to eat or better suggestions of what we should do post check-in? Places that we can cab/uber/walk are good since we'll be in no shape to drive. Thanks
On 30th St, make sure to hit Rip Current's new tasting room, it's half a block from Toronado. RC's beers are excellent in a variety of styles, and they also have a couple of guest taps and a kitchen. Belching Beaver and TigerTiger are also both easy to hit between the Lafayette and Toronado, but I'd put them just below Toronado and Rip Current. Foodwise, Carnitas Snack Shack is excellent but always packed. You could also eat at Toronado, or get ramen at Underbelly right next door to Modern Times. If for some reason you don't do Rip Current on 30th St, stop at their main brewery on the 78 between Stone and Pizza Port on Sunday. Toolbox should also be a stop on Sunday, assuming they're open at the right time of day.
Me and few of my friends are doing a little bachelor party and we're also staying at the Lafayette...but next weekend. Anyway, we'll definitely hitting Stone, Council and maybe Societe on the way up there. Then for sure Belching Beaver, Toronado, Rip Current & Modern Times.
Urbn could be a good place for the group to eat for New Haven style pizza. Food at Tiger! Tiger! Is very good as well.
Waypoint Public and Ritual are good food options in that area as well. Coin-Op has pretty good shareable type items if you want a more casual meal with good drinks and video games. If you want to expand a bit further (and you would need to Uber/taxi), Hamilton's, Alchemy, and Buona Forchetta are good options in South Park.
Food at Tiger! Tiger! is great. Tacos Perla by MT North Park is fantastic. Safehouse has good ramen. City Tacos on University is excellent. Lots of good stuff in the area. Cheers!
Pro-tip on Tacos Perla: You can order from your phone and have them deliver it to you at Modern Times. You might miss out on specials, but it's worth it. Or I guess you could walk the 200 feet, order there and have them deliver.
Tiger! Tiger! All of north park is great blind lady, belching beaver, MT, go to Idaho market on Idaho st. it's a hidden treasure got some alpine while I was there don't have to drive all the way to alpine. Play a little poker at the casino next door to the store also.

He did sneak that in there, and typically people ask more than a few days before, so it is understandable. And yes, the beer drama has been captivating.
