Hey fellow beer drinkers, bingers, degenerates, and beer snobs.

I'm pretty new to the San Diego area and I don't really know where to start. I've had and been to the staple breweries, Stone, Lagunitas, Russian River, North Coast. I know that there are a lot of 'up and coming' small breweries around me and I really like to patronize small business'. I live in the Temecula area, any suggestions guys? Thank you

Start with Temecula. Plenty of great beer right here. Welcome to the area.

Side note, Societe is doing a whole week of festivities coming up for their Anniersary. I'm sure that'll be awesome

I just googled that one because I had never heard of it. It looks like a really neat place. Seems like they have a lot of events going on. I will certainly check this one out. I appreciate the advice!

Just went to Council and Modern Times on a brewery tour last weekend...I'd say both fit into the up-n-coming category and are also awesome.

Oh I will definitely be checking out Stone, they have so many good beers and their brewery and gardens are freakin beautiful!

Council seems cool, I just googled them and I saw that they have sours and tarts. I am really getting in to sours lately but it seems like they are hard to find even at beer stores. The best luck I had at BevMo was a New Belgium Lips of faith series beer. You guys know anywhere to get a really good sour? whether its a brewery or even a store/online store?

Yeah their sour is a petit sour saison that they are putting out with different fruit additions. Talked to the brewer and they should be coming out with a bigger batch soon...currently its just tasters only due to limited supply.

For good sours, I'd head up to Bruery.

I was just looking at Bruery and I'm impressed with their selections of seasonal brews. I'm about an hour away from that one so I think I''ll take my girlfriend there to try some. She loves really good beer too, I'm lucky.

WOW man, good looking. This looks perfect, lots of local breweries. It makes sense to go to as many festivals as I can so that I can fully immerse myself in the scene right now. I'm wanting to see every brewery as future competition, we can learn a lot about the craft from other professionals and enthusiasts. Are you going?

Look into the SD Intl. Beer Festival at the Del Mar Fair. I always have a great time there. Unlimited tasters of many beers, locals and imports. I was pounding Kern River JO last year! and, Hoptimums, as well as lots of imported stuff like Malhuer Brut... Oh. Btw you can go grease up at the fair before with deep fried goodness before .

Are you looking for local beer fests or breweries? As mentioned, Societe kicks ass ... their two brewers came from Russian River & The Bruery. Personally I love the Pour It Black event at Stone in Oct ... all dark beers, many barrel aged. Orange County has at least two top notch events ... Brew Ha Ha in Sep and Brew Ho Ho in Dec. My other fave SD brewery is Alesmith. For beer bars check out Toronado in San Diego ... yes, sister to Toronado in SF.

Thanks for all the helpful advice guys. I knew that this area is like the mecca of craft beer and brewing but I didn't have the information on it all. I'm looking foreword to checking out the Stone fest and DEFINATELY going to check out Beer Camp event in San Diego, buying tickets this week. I'd love to meet up with some people for one of these fests. I don't really have beer friends a

Finding great beer in San Diego should be as easy as finding sand on the beach! Enjoy!

I don't know how close you are to Ventura but this one seems pretty cool, like it would be at least as good as an average festival.
