I will be traveling to San Diego next week and wanted to get some recommendations and advise in regards to bottle shops and breweries to hit up. I want to check out monkish, lost abbey but not sure if they have bottles to go on a daily basis or just special releases. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks
Just a heads up, Monkish is 2+ hours from San Diego. As for where else to visit, I would add Modern Times, Alesmith, and Pure Project to your list
A simple search always helps. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...rly-2018-recommendations.554352/#post-5820149 https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/3-days-in-san-diego.550611/#post-5778674
Thanks. I will be driving from vegas so thats my first stop regardless of drive. But do u knownif they have bottles to go on a daily? Or just growler fills
Growler fills, yes. Cans and bottles? Check their instagram or website a couple of hours before you get there
Check Monkish's website to see if there's any take home bottles (though this has been rare lately), but they'll usually have at least one IPA to put into a growler. https://www.monkishbrewing.com/ If you want cans, hope they have a release that day.
Driving from Vegas to LA I would recommend a stop at Hangar 24. It’s 40 minutes out of the way but they have some great stuff on tap now. I’d call ahead and see if they have any Barrel aged bottles available
The taps at Hangar 24 are shit. Do not go for their core beers. U could stop at kings and sour cellars in the rancho cucamonga area. Also Homage brewing in Pomona.
I stopped by Kings over the weekend and was thoroughly underwhelmed by their beer and the atmosphere. The two NEIPAs I had were muted and unremarkable. Definitely more of a bar vibe than your typical tasting room with blaring music and indifferent service. Now get off my lawn.
Right now Hangar 24 has a good amount of their barrel aged stuff. Worth going now. If that had zero BA beers I would agree with you.
