San Diego Beer Week (SDBW) 2014

I'll just walk into the joint and scream, "WHO IS SD REAPER?!?!?!?!?" and see what happens. As I said in another thread, I'll be the 6'0" bald white guy wearing some out of town beer shirt.

 

I played an online game a few years back with a handle of Rashnau, as such my nickname in game was Rash. There was a Las Vegas meetup at one point, imagine the look on peoples' faces when someone yells through the casino "Hey Rash!"

Yeah, classic.

 

EAH on the 9th, Rare, Barrel and Sour beers, starting at noon.

Figured I would spend most of the day here and will bring a few bottles of my own to share with other beer nerds and friends.

 

Awwwww yeah, maintenances I had next week got cancelled, w000000000, no more cutting events short to rush home and pound away at a keyboard.

Been a big fan of Barrel Republic lately, what with the pour-your-own novelty (which is actually eminently functional, too, as sometimes I want a little more of one thing, a little less of the other). In any case, pour-your-own of LA Spontaneous Cheer, Red Poppy, Track #8, etc., plus some New Belgium goodies? That's full of win.

Wow, if the Rip Current event at Tap Room doesn't put me down for the count, I may have to walk over for some ASGC and Spontaneous Cheer.

 

It got better then I see. I visited when they were getting off the ground and they did not clean their lines at all. The concept is nice, I also like that you need to "re-up" your wristband after a set amount of ounces, definitely helps keep the drunkards from going nutso.

ION: Stone Rare beer breakfast was great. One of the Surettes didn't make it and was replaced with Crooked Stave Origins. They also had Bourbonic Plague just..sitting there....not listed...just...sitting. Hommage lasted all of 20minutes, super glad that was where I went first. Laid back, stood no more than a minute in a beer line and 3 minutes for food. Good times, as always. Happy SD Beer Week.

 

San Diego beer week is the oddest week ever for San Diego beer consumption. For anyone outside of Diego reading this, every week in San Diego is Sdbw. 100 breweries and still growing. Plus it's November 7th and it's going to be 90 degrees at the beach tomorrow. Paradise personified.

 

Wait, are you saying we can BYOB at EAH?

 

I am saying I am, but I emailed and asked for permission since I didn't want to assume I could just show up and use their glassware.

It is, and I rather ask and get denied then assume I can bring a bottle and get bad stares. Of course what I plan on bringing if Glenn is there he would let me crack them open anyways so long as he got a glass.

 

Have a day off tomorrow (Monday) and am looking to make it out that way for some nice tap lists, this is what I've found, am I missing anything worthy/better:
Taproom - Modern Times
Barrel Republic - Coronado/Lagunitas
O'Briens - Avery
Sublime Alehouse - Belching Beaver

 

I'll be at sublime around 7ish.

 

Looks like Societe kegged a couple sours. Haven't announced when they'll be on tap though:

 

The Scrapper is their hoppy dark. Not sure what the spelunker is, but it's not one of the sours they've released

 

Sd taproom tapped all the Belching beaver beers early so I got to sample almost everything that sublime will have..however I may still stop in, my lady loves PB milk stout

 

Might be too late now, but Toronado had kegs of Surly Darkness '12 & '13, and also broke out a case of CC '13.
