My husband and I are headed to San Diego in October for a long weekend. Thoughts on best location/hotel recs that is central when we head to the breweries? Should we look at one of the brewery tours or go individually? Any suggestions welcome. Anyone know about the Tasting Room opening in Del Mar? Thanks!
should read through this helpful thread first, then see if you have any specific questions after that http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-san-diego-winter-2016.372021/ i will say don't do a beer tour though
From what I can tell Josh and Tony do great tours. Private. And it sounds like you can either pick breweries you want to hit or else like a preset (i.e. Miramar tour, green flash, ballast, alesmith, the big guys). I just can't remember which company you guys work for. Also OP, keep following the "Visiting San Diego" posts. @Xul already said he would do another one, I believe in July, with the updates since I personally think some breweries he listed this time that were skippable have quite improved.
Care to elaborate on specifics? I try to integrate at least some popular opinion into it since my personal views would eliminate some breweries that others hold in VERY high regard.
Sure, I think I would put Council back on the Tier2 should visit. That new gear seemed to have helped a lot since Gavel Drop and Bully are back to the level they were initially. So I guess not really brewer(ies), more just a brewery. I would also consider bumping up Belching Beaver to the tier 1 due to their new facility finally opening and Peter's beers finally going on draft.
