I always go to the Carlsbad version at Holiday Park put on by the Rotary Club. They have Tip Top meats supply the food. The beer selection is lacking but it is a good time.

Are there any other good fests in North County?

Never been but I've heard the La Mesa one is pretty crazy.

La Mesa is more like a street fair where you have to sit in a beer garden to drink. The best in the county is the El Cajon Oktoberfest at the German-American Society. Not North County, and the beer is a little pricy, but the selection is top notch.

I haven't been in a few years but I always liked the Ocean Beach Oktoberfest, except for the time a seagull shit in my full beer.

OB Oktoberfest has been shut down for years. Way back its where I had some of my first exposure to SD craft beer.

    Don't forget the Rasta booth!

Last year I went to blind lady ale house. Buy a stein, discounted refills all weekend.

The Hamilton's thing was good too, all 3 of their sister bars each represented a region of Germany with their local beers.

It's all about Humptoberfest at Latitude 33. Hops, hops, and more hops.

Carlsbad can sure use some better beers. But I won the yodeling contest last year and the prize was a gift certificate to Tip Top!

La Mesa: Karl Strauss beer truck, 5 beers offered and 1 is Oktoberfest. Endless Summer Light is one of the offerings and there is no forgiving them for that. Also, they sell burritos and other non-German foods. Not sure why...

El Cajon: Amazing. Bring your own stein, buy your beer and pour it in (they used to fill it themselves but stopped doing so). All the beer offerings are German brews (Warsteiner, Paulaner, etc.). Food is authentic and the dancing is fun.

Go up to the Phoenix Club in Anaheim for a real Oktoberfest (well, as close as you can get)
