First off hello to all, Im a new comer to B A as a member, have always check in for places to go. Im heading out to San Diego tomorrow and Ill be hangin solo for most of the trip. The first thing I always look at is where to go drink good beer and where to buy good beer. I'm primarily someone who enjoys the darker robust side: Dog Fish Indian Brown is my go to when nothing else excites me, Porters: Great Lakes, Smutty, Flying Dog Gonzo & Road Dog and Stouts: Stone Russian, Throegs Java, etc.
I am always willing to try something outside this category as long as it isnt to hoppy. So with that said can you guys suggest where to go drink and equally as important where to get a nice selection of beers to buy. I'm staying in Oceanside and will be there for a week and want to stock up early, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.:sunglasses:

Texas Liquor in Carlsbad and the Pizza Port is nearby too. Then you can go down the 78 to Stone. I live about 30 mins South of there so I'm sure someone closer will provide more. Also you can get the TapHunter app. Works really well in San Diego.

Try Breakwater brewing, its on Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside- they have great pizza and sandwiches and good house beer plus guest taps. About 6 miles down the 78 (east) in Vista and you have 9 breweries, go to Mother Earth.

Do you have a rental car or are traveling primarily via public transportation?

I will have a rental car, and plan on renting a bike for a day to cruise up the coast.

You like stout - you need to work your way down to Alesmith.

Oh cool. Defiantly take the advise then on Carlsbad PP as well as Lost Abbey and Stone. When it comes to bottles, just pop your head in any crappy liquor store and you will probably be surprised what you will find. If you check a few places I'm sure you can find some aged Stone IRS.

The Port bottle shop is part & parcel to my trips to PP and Carlsbad in general. There is always something hard to find and top notch there.

You will be very pleased if you check out Holiday Wine Cellar, a bottle store in Escondido only a few miles from Stone. I'd been going to Stone for a long time before one of the guys in the Stone store told me to check out Holiday. I am very glad I did! Really good bottle shop (and also a super good spirits department!) I always find things there that are hard to find and they sometimes have some things brewed for them. It's only minutes from Stone and I think it's worth a visit. JMO

Rip Current is just off 78. Less than a year old and making very good beer.

    Rip Curl?

I think BelchinBeaver makes a hell of a milk stout, but I realize that the style is passe with most BAs.

Ride your bike over the bridge to Oceanside Harbor to Tony's Sports Bar. He has some good taps and a lot of bottles.
