Disclaimer: I've been perusing through past threads for a bit, so I've done some research. I am heading out for 10 days for a race up in Tahoe and then am doing a 7 day "work" beercation. I'll be spending two of those days in San Diego. I know the places to hit, but don't know the best place to stay to be in somewhat a central place. I know I really don't want to stay downtown where its $$. Any thoughts?
Have you tried Air BnB? Lafayette Hotel is in the heart of North Park, which is kind of a hotbed of San Diego craft beer. It's also not far from downtown. It's a cool hotel, but I'm not sure how expensive it is. If you're on a budget, which I always am, look into Air BnB. I pretty much only do that unless there's a hotel I'm really interested in staying at. Here's an example: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2448193?checkin=07/09/2014&checkout=07/14/2014&s=SjNv
If you are at any of the cheap Mission Valley places you are short cab ride (or bus ride even) from the 30th St. corridor.
