Biggest question - is Pliny available anywhere? My wife is in san diego (downtown). She'll bring back a few bombers, but that's about it. My wish list is Pliny, Alpine Nelson or Duet, maybe some Sculpin. Bottlecraft and Super Jr? Again, my biggest question is about availability of Pliny. Thanks for any info or suggestions. PS - I know Super Jr is sketchy, but she knows kung fu and always carries nunchucks.
For Alpine and Pliny bottles downtown your best bet is Bine and Vine. http://www.bineandvine.com/ If she can get to Santee, Beverages4Less often carries both also. (Watch out for Freddie!) http://beverages4lessinc.com/
Alpine Alpine Alpine, force her to drive there and pick up as much Duet, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness, and Bad Boy (growler only) as you can.
Pliny is much easier to find than Alpine. Fullers, Bine and Vine, Clems, BDBS, Palm Springs Liquor, Del Mar Wine Company, Beverages 4 Less, Mesa Liquor, and many others. The newest PtE in SD now is 5/16 - instant drainpour. /sarcasm Sculpin is totally abundant - just tell her to go to BevMo and buy 6 packs of it. MUCH cheaper than bombers per oz. Alpine - Freddy will have the best selection outside of the brewery. If you can talk your wife into driving to the brewery, you can get bottles there and in their brewpub next door, OR the liquor store 100 yards to the west down the street.
PtE sells out fairly quick (within a few days typically) at most top notch beer places. Around me (Ocean Beach) the places I have noticed that hold on to them the longest are Baron's Market and Sea Traders. Alpine is going to be really tough. Some did just come out within the past couple of weeks, but I know my go to bottle shop sold out of them in less then a day on both shipments (Nelson one week and Pure Hoppiness the following week)
Screw Beverages for Less, Olive Tree Market in Ocean Beach ought to have it and she won't have to drive out to buttfucking Santee.
I agree with the availability of Pliny here in SD. If you go up to Alpine, the price for their beers are much better than almost all of the bottleshops here in SD. But here's the trick: 1. Go to the brewery and get your alotment of 4 bottles of whatever beers you want. 2. Then go to the brewpub and buy up to 4 more. 3. Then go to the liquor store 100 yards to the west (Alpine Inn Liquor) and buy as much as they have. 4. Then, just before getting back onto the freeway, stop at Frontier Liquor by Carl's Jr. and buy as much as they have. 5. Go on eBay and sell all your Alpine beers for major profit just and totally piss off the Alpine crew (kidding! kidding!) The prices at these local (in Alpine) liquor stores are typically $2-3 less per bomber than almost anywhere else in town. Side note: For instant hilarity, go to google maps and search for Alpine Beer Company and go directly to street view. It takes you to the Alpine Inn (its the wrong listing) but there's a great shot of a John Deer tractor being driven down the main road. I knew we were a bunch of hicks up here in the 'pine, but now its recorded proof on the internet. YEE HAW!!
