Looks like three SD breweries are headed to Utah. Iron Fist, Aztec and Ballast Point. And I hear (unconfirmed) rumors of Port Brewing! Prost. http://utahbeer.blogspot.com/
Sounds good. I'll belief it when I see it. If it does happen, I could just imagine which stores will carry them. Cheers!
Select Iron Fist and Aztec beers are currently available for special order from the DABC. Ask for them at your favorite pub or beer bar! More new beers to come...............................
So, not sold at the SLS? What about the Port Brewing and Ballast Point? Also, Special Order? Not at SLS? Cheers!
I don't have any info on Port Brewing, but Ballast Point is supposedly going the distribution route to grocery stores with their low ABV session IPA.
That's it from Ballast Point? A 4% ABV brew? Is it a dumbed down brew, like the Goose Island Goose IPA which is 5.9% ABV brew, brought down to UT grocery store level. A session IPA you can call it. To me, the IPA starts at 6% ABV, to be tasty. At 4% it feels watered down (at least the few I've had, not including the Goose IPA), it's not bad, but no chewiness at the entry level, but I might have a different reaction having the Goose IPA, Ballast Point Session IPA, never know. Squatters 4% ABV Full Suspension Pale Ale is more hoppier to me than the one's I've had (4% ABV IPAs). Cheers!
It's hard for me to get excited when most things are only found at the bars with a large mark-up. I sure hope to see some Port Brewing in the stores though - been wanting to try the Mongo IPA.
The DABC relies on the sales data they get from the bars to see what sells before they put them into stores. It's usually a few months after the new brews hit the bars. Remember? You didn't see Deschutes, Boulevard, Shipyard etc when they first came into the market - now they're everywhere. Keep your panties on, it'll happen.
Was not living in Utah until last year. I had no idea it took that long for Deschutes and Boulevard to end up in stores.
Now, Deschutes does have a bunch of other brew's besides the one's that show up here, but still we do get some good one's. The bombers we get are very limited, the sixers are always plenty though, where is Obsiidian Stout? The Boulevard's we get are good also, but again they make other brew's that we do not get. Shipyard I can do without. To be half way deceit, UT has a very very long way to go. Cheers!
Hey guys...I'm new to the SLC area (as of Saturday) and came originally from Southern California. We'd often frequent BP and they'd have this on tap from time to time when they were thinking about releasing it in cans. Solid stuff and one of the better sessions I've had for sure!
