I am visiting San Diego April 22nd - 28th. My girlfriend and I work at a brewery in Philadelphia so our trip will center around beer and food. We have some places scoped out already but would love to hear recomendations from the locals. Neither of us has been there before.

    Cheers,
    -Austin

If only you took the thirty seconds to come up with a witty response to something you should have ignored.

    Thanks.

Start with the basics, where in San Diego? Will you have a car?

Just do a search. There must be 25+ threads on this exact subject.

If only you took the thirty seconds to do a search for probably the single most asked question in the entire Pacific forum.

Yeah, I saw that. Are the games usually difficult to get tickets to or can you walk up on game day for seats?

We were just at MSG for the first time and saw a Ranger's game. That was pretty awesome.

I promise that there will be thousands of tickets available for a weeknight game in April against Milwaukee.

The games at the end of the week against SF will be much more lively.

Why don't you tell us what you have scoped out so far, and we'll go from there. Since you are going to be here a week, there is no need for us to worry about locality (though knowing "A is close to B is close to C" is useful).

The West Coaster San Diego is probably a good place to start:

Near the back of the paper are maps of all the breweries and a list.

We are renting a car while we are out there and here is our list of places to hit - Alpine, Societe, Ballast Point, Toranado, Green Flash, AleSmith, Stone and Port/Lost Abbey.
We may also take a day trip up the coast if we are up for it.

I do not see any of the Pizza Ports listed on your itinerary - you definitely need to visit one or most of them (Ocean Beach, Solana Beach, Carlsbad). When you are visiting Port/Lost Abbey and/or Stone, you should also make a point to hit some of the San Marcos breweries (e.g. Rip Current) and pubs (Churchill's). Also, if you are at Societe, stopping by O'Brien's Pub is something worth doing. You should visit Blind Lady Alehouse and/or Tiger!Tiger!

Add Pizza Port Ocean Beach to that list (or Solana, Carlsbad if you drive North) and familiarize yourself with 30th Street/Adams Ave. and you'll have a great time.

A great list!! Societe for sure. Some great beers coming out of this new brewery. Alpine a must. But call ahead. Both pub and brewery is closed Mondays. Brewery is closed on Sundays. If you do drive north along the coast you do have Pizza Port Oceanside & Carlsbad. If you do go as far north to the OC then Beachwood BBQ Seal Beach is a must. OC's brewery would be the Bruery.

hmmm the real questions that should be answered are what brewery do you work for and are you bringing any goodies from out that way here?

    Map

Is one of you going to be a DD, or are you looking for places local to where you are staying? Are trying to hit up breweries for tastings/tours/hard to find beers/or bottles to go. Honestly the best places to go are beer bars so you can try a variety of things, my recommendations are; Toronado, Hamilton's, O'brien's, Pizza Port Ocean Beach, Downtown Johnny Browns, Blind Lady Ale House, TigerTiger, Monkey Paw, Churchill's, Urge, and the Neighborhood.

Can you print these pages as a .pdf and distribute them? I don't want to have to scroll through a bunch of threads.

Beer/breweries aside, make sure to get a California burrito from one of the taco shops here. I highly recommend the Lolita's on Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

Kappa Sushi in Mira Mesa (very close to Ballast Point's northern tasting room and a very short drive to Alesmith) is also highly recommended. If you're vegetarian/vegan, the Loving Hut is also close.
