I'm going to be in San Diego for a conference Sept 18-20 and looking for recommendations. I've been out there once before and hit Stone, Lost Abbey, Pizza Port, Churchill's (but did not get finest hour), Toronado, Hamilton's and a couple other places I cannot remember. Anything cool going on when I am there? Any place I should hit up? I'm not sure if I will rent a car but will if there is some place I should go to. Also, if anyone is looking for anything from Michigan I will have a little room in my luggage.

Blind Lady Ale House and Tiger! Tiger! Are cool spots. And Belching Beaver is basically next door to T!T!

Where are you staying? I would recommend a trip to societe brewing in kearny Mesa, and since others will fill you with false hopes of Alpine being in "San Diego", I will just say Alpine is worth the trip, but it is in the outskirts so will take up quite a portion of your day.

Maybe you could convince someone to pick you up a growler from there and trade it with you for some michigan beers you bring. Hmmm...hmmmmmmm...well I may keep you in mind actually :grinning: (depends on my schedule)

What are some great Michigan beers you have access to? What do you recommend?

I am staying in Gaslamp. I am familiar with Alpine as trading partner is kind enough to send me bottles every once in a while. I can get all of the standard stuff from the big ones, Founder, Bells, New Holland. I would recommend smaller places like Shorts and Oddside. Kuhnhenn is great but kind of far from me. I have CBS, KH and Ba9000 but it would need to be something hard to get for me to trade those.

Booked a room at the Hard Rock. Not sure if it is any good but it was the overflow hotel for my conference. Couple questions.

    1) Besides driving out to Alpine, what are my odds of finding bottles?
    2) Any idea of what rarish stuff Toronado has? Last time I was there I had on 09 CC and it was delicious. Traveling for work has its perks as these things tend to get reimbursed.
    3) What would it take to get my hands on a Finest Hour? I was at Churchill's two years ago and did not buy a bottle because I had to drink it there and the guy I was with didn't drink. I was driving and didn't feel right leaving half the bottle behind.
    4) Non beer related: Any chance of getting a tee time at Torrey Pines?
