    Hey All,

I am sure you are all sick of seeing these threads but I am in need of some help.

I am visiting this Friday the 2nd till Tuesday the 6th and will be staying in the Pacific Beach area

Will for sure be stopping into Modern Times, Alesmith

Need some suggestions on Bottle shops and other breweries to hit while I'm here. Will have excess to a car and a DD so dont hold back.

Also if anyone is looking to trade please contact me would love to set something up.

Have HF, allagash coolships, quick access to tree house, 3F framboos, and a bunch of random stuff.

Looking for BA stouts from Horus, modern times, bottle logic etc..

    Thank you,

    - Joe

Go to Baron's Market on West Point Loma Blvd. Excellent selection of beer and not far from Pacific Beach.

Anyone have an idea of SD breweries that also serve wine? (Other than Stone or Ballast Point).

    Cheers,
    Bryan

In North County, Bagby in Oceanside, Pizzaport all locations has a small wine selection, Belching Beaver has a full bar in Vista, all Urge locations.

Not a brewery, but you could go to Public Market at Liberty Station. Bottlecraft for the beer drinkers and the adjacent wine/cocktail bar, all in the same space.

First time back to San Diego since November 2012.

WCIPA guy booked for Monday (after Super Bowl) through Friday in El Cajon driving in from Tucson.

Monday: O'Brien's for lunch, Societe, Blind Lady Ale House/Toranado/Hamilton's
Tuesday: Eppig, Pizza Port Ocean Beach, Blind Lady Alehouse/Toranado/Hamilton's
Wednesday: Bagby, Burgeon, Pizza Port Carlsbad, Churchill's
    Thursday: Alpine, Burning Beard
Friday: Alpine for bottles, drive back to Tucson

Found tap lists for all but BLAH and Toranado, but haven't checked their social media yet.

Thought about running up to Beachwood for a day and hitting Pizza Port San Clemente on the way back but hope to find some on tap or cans in bottle shops in SD.

Any other WCIPA recommendations I may be missing?

    Maybe Alesmith?

I've always enjoyed Rip Current IPAs. They have a tasting room in North Park and the brewery is in San Marcos .

Both North Park Beer Co. and Burgeon make good WICA's.

Thank you. Will add Rip Current to the list.

NPBC Hop-Fu added to the list.

I've only had Burgeon's Canopy Tour which I know is a Pale Ale, but like San Diego Surprise from Alpine thats right in my wheelhouse. Looking forward to their IPAs.

After a further look at Toronado's (apologies for the misspelling in my previous post guys) page I will definitely hit them up Monday for the all day happy hour.

I dunno about Alpine any more, but Modern Times should be included. Alpine is a shell of it's 2012 self.

If you check bottle shops, keep an eye out for El Segundo Nuclear Power Plant Triple IPA. While it may be a smidge short of PtY, it is very good and literally came out/bottled last week. They self-distribute so uncertain how far south they go.

Beachwood is now distributed through Stone so it *should* be around in SD. They're very good fresh but start to fall off at around 4-6 weeks, just FYI. I'd still seek them out.

If you do swing up to OC for Beachwood, also hit up Riip & Green Cheek.

Riip is now run by Ian who was the second in command at Beachwood. Also the view is probably one of the best. No cans though, but pretty much every item on the board is available to go as crowlers.

Green Cheek is run by Evan of Noble Ale Works fame, but I know the styles are much more varied there than at Noble during his tenure. I'd check online to see if any IPAs that fit your interests are even available to go.

Uber to North Park. Go to Modern Times, Toronado, Rip Current, Fall Brewing, Tiger! Tiger!, and any other brewery that fits your fancy then end your day with a burrito at Colimas.

Otherwise, spend your days at the beach.

Oh, and the best breakfast burrito you'll ever have is at Kono's Surf Shop in PB, so do that, well, do that every morning.

We get a lot of Modern Times in Tucson so I am trying to find stuff I can't get in Tucson. Not just Orderville, Space Ways, City of the Sun, but also Broken Shadows, Open in Encintas, DDH Critical Band, Suggestion of Mass (ok not a WCIPA). I'm not a MT club member, so I wouldn't have access to the limited stuff anyway. I may visit simply to see the establishment though.

Will check various Stone tap lists for Beachwood then.

I know Alpine isn't the OG Alpine. I was at Falling Rock Tap House for their "official" distribution to Colorado event and remember Duet and Pure Hoppiness not being the same.

However, Windows Up has been my staple since I found it when I was living in New Jersey last year and I can't get enough of San Diego Surprise and HFS when it shows up in the Ol' Pueblo. Nelson is different now, but I still grab some when it's in season.

Looking forward to their Not Nelson, 79 to Alpine, O'Brien's IPA, etc. or whatever else may be on tap next week.

    So speaking of Alpine....

Exponential Hoppiness is coming back for a limited release on Saturday, February 2 both online and in our tasting room!
    -
This Triple India Pale Ale with Oak at 11 % ABV is deceptively mild for its strength. This hop monster starts by using multiple kettle hop additions with each addition doubling the amount of the previous addition (exponentially). Add in a giant hop-back and the two dry hopping sessions and you're almost there. The beer is finished off with a couple of "body-bag" sized hop sacks full of hop flowers and oak chips. Then it ages and mellows, disguising the alcohol content for a strong, incredibly hoppy, yet truly enjoyable beer.

Didn’t want to start a new thread on Ballast Point. So I found this.
Sorry. Got home late from work tonight and have the next 5 days off so I open a Stone Aroogant Bastard and pour into one of my first glasswares purchased over 10 years ago...Ballast Point and what do I read on it? Dedicated to Craft. Really? Yes back then when I purchased it and was drinking Big Fin and Sculpin.
    Today? Lol.

Its up to $15 after fees for a bomber. Woof. I bet youll able to just buy it there and prob get it on tap for dirt cheap. Everytime i go to the brewpub im astounded at how cheap they keep their growler fills and pints relative to other breweries. Will prob be like $6 a pint.

Trying to piggy back on this - any must check out bars and breweries near the Convention Center / Gaslamp areas?
