Have a friend leaving for SD tomorrow, staying at country resort in mission bay (also taking a trip to ocean side for a day as well). What are the best bottle shops, breweries currently CLOSE by? What's out worth picking up right now/fresh in bottles? Fav local restaurant of the moment w/fresh & local food? Ps, read some reviews but any 1st hand experience of this week is appreciated
I don't really know the Pliny schedule there - I just know that it is probably the best (or at least one of the best) bottle shop in that part of town.
I was at O'Briens Pub yesterday and they had Pliny on tap. They just had a bunch of casked kegs of Societes beers delivered yesterday as well. If you do go to O'Briens Pub, Societe is less than 5 minutes away. Make sure you check out San Diego next big brewery. I think they've got some great beers coming out of there. If your looking for bottles (ipa's) to bring back then take the time and drive out to Alpine and load up on duet, pure hoppiness and nelson (which should be available today). I'm heading there today for some great bbq grub and bottles/growlers. If you can find some Alpine bottles close by where your at then great. But it's usually a one or two bottle limit.
