I am going to be in San francisco on the 28 and wanted to know which breweries are a must visit while I am in town. Also, if there are any special events that I should be aware of that would be great. Cheers!!!
Cellarmaker is pumping out some really tasty beers (although Connor is full of himself) City Beer Store, Magnolia, Monk's Kettle, The Toronado. Russian River Brewing, Lagunitas, & Bear Republic are all within 25 miles of each other. Drakes Faction Rare Barrel Moyland's Triple Rock The list goes on...
I will be heading up to russian river later in the week after I do a Napa trip, just wanted to know the breweries inside of the city of san fran. I will check out all those brews though. Thanks!
As far as more notable breweries in the city, there's 21st Amendment, Speakeasy, and of course Anchor. Rogue also has a pub house in SF.
magnolia! and cellarmaker for sure. try and get a tour at anchor! and my favorite is http://cerveceriasf.com/ you can grab a beer and head up for a relaxing afternoon in dolores park!
These here are actual breweries in SF. http://sfbrewersguild.org/map/ Each has its merits. Anchor is really the only "must see," but unless things have changed recently you have to plan ahead for that. WAY ahead. Like, start two months ago. If you can get into Anchor for a look see, great. Otherwise explore the rest of the city and enjoy!
Just out of curiosity, do you know why Southpaw BBQ is on that list? I want to say I read or heard something about them and beer, but can't find it and their menu doesn't have any house beers or anything. Edit: I now see on that site they have a brewer, but still not a single house beer? Weird... Double edit: "sample menu" guess I'll just have to check it out for myself.
I'll be in SF/Pittsburg from May 7-13. I'll def be hitting up RR, Cellarmaker, Toronado and Mikkeller Bar. Hopefully making the trip to SARA if I can talk the wife into it! I may hit Lagunitas and Bear Republic if I have time. Any other breweries, bars, pubs or bottle shops that I must hit? Also if anyone in the area wants to meet up for a brew or to trade for some MI brews or others then just let me know!
