We're flying into San Jose and driving up to Yosemite. Want to ensure we're well provisioned. Any recommendations on places to stop in San Jose or on the way? Thanks for your help!
Stop at The Wine Club in Santa Clara. It is half a mile away from the airport, and has the best selection in the South Bay. Great selection of cans, perfect for camping.
I would just add that the grocery store down in the (Yosemite) Valley has a very decent craft beer selection. Don't expect to find anything too crazy, but things like Anchor steam and liberty ale, SNPA, stone arrogant bastard are things I recall seeing in the past. That being said, go with SLOBrew's recommendation, or try to stop at some BevMo along the way, for a more interesting selection. I would also add that the Wine Club has an ousttanding selection of vino as well (as the name implies), in case you want to mix things up a bit. :-)
What is your route of travel into Yosemite? If it's Hwy 140 through Mariposa, Prospectors Brewing is worthy of a stop..
It's arguably worth the extra hour or so to take the 140 route through Mariposa. Prospectors is a decent brewpub, and the Alley across the street usually has a very nice craft selection.
I'll third the recommendation of Prospectors. It isn't worth a special trip, but if you're heading south from Yosemite on 41, South Gate in Oakhurst is a good stop.
Caps and Taps in Dublin. Anyways a killer tap list and a small, yet excellent, selection of bottles to go. Highly recommend
