If anyone happens to be traveling along the north eastern coast of Italy, I highly recommend spending a day or two in San Marino, which is a tiny country that resides just west of Rimini. It's a beautiful medieval city on top of a uniquely shaped mountain and it's absolutely gorgeous. Within that city, right near the city gate, is a killer craft brewery called Birrificio Abusivo. It was an oasis on our tour through Italy which had a serious lack of beer throughout. The beer was great and the guy running the bar was actually from Detroit! We had a lot of fun and I brought back a bunch of their stuff with me. Highly recommended!
I have not been to San Marino (yet), but had a rating of an Amarcord beer while they were still located in San Marino, and subsequently "lost" a beer country when Amarcord moved a few miles to Rimini in Italy. But I got a new San Marino tick later, when I had La Capanna Birra Di San Marino, brewed by Titanbräu - Birrificio Artigianale Sammarinese.
