I responded because I'm somewhere in between both parties. The bitching on both sides is a minor annoyance, but a necessary evil of a message board. I just accept how the "craft beer can game" works. I would love to not wait in lines and get a fair allotment with no hassle, but it is what it is.

I apologize for the basic economics talk, because honestly the feeling is mutual. You're a great member of the forum and I always appreciate your input in local threads.

point well taken, and I agree, I would be annoyed if this thread turned into JUST line updates, but then again checking this thread on release day and seeing that there 300 ppl on line for 100 bottles would help me decide if it was worth my time to take a trip to the brewery, which is useful information.

post after post complaining about limits and this and that is not useful information and ends up turning into arguments because we have differing opinions on what is and what should be...and that's cool, we all have a voice...my point is that it is now very well documented who feels what way about limits and lines so let's graduate from that discussion.

Whilst you might classify me as a "line lover" (great term by the way...rolls of the tongue nicely), it is actually my preference for their to be no lines, but I am a realist...and if you guys have been reading this thread you would also agree that tomorrow's release will certainly have the biggest crowd of any sand city release to date, weather permitting (this is the first time we saw people asking for rides from the train station). it would be my preference for this thread to provide me with details about the line for this upcoming release as opposed to pages of bitching...er...I mean recommendations about what sand city should do to make things better for those who have better things to do with their time than wait on lines (though I do find it funny to read that from people who seemingly are never offline from this website).

bottom line is that the best way to reduce hype is to stop posting about the releases, but at this point sand city is on the map. Reposting their Facebook and instagram updates here helps get the word out to those who don't follow on IG or FB...the people who share that information here are the ones you should be after, not those of us who are accepting of the reality. I wouldn't be surprised if the same people complaining about lines are the ones reposting release info here within minutes.

interesting that you fall in the middle, but you were the one to announve the new release here and kick off discussions. not good or bad, but that's what fuels the fire about limits and lines.

Take a look at bells brewery and their fans...in years past bells would secretly release black note or other highly sought after beers. it would last for a while until someine inevitably blew it up on this site and the it would sell out almost instantly. if you want no lines and no hype, then no chit chat

Not really sure what point you're trying to make here. I've been pretty much indifferent to the ideas of lines, case limits, and everything everyone else seems to gripe about on this forum and I think my posts clearly reflect that. For instance:

my point is that if we stop mentioning the releases and talking about them for days in advance on this forum, they will likely fly more under the radar and have shorter lines, and all that jazz. I could care less what limits are or that there are lines, I expect lines and limits for most quality beer these days. no knock against you at all but we are the ones creating the buzz and hype and then a good chunk of us are then annoyed about it. We can't have it both ways and a lot of the people whining about lines and access to beer are the same people fueling the hype train is all I am saying.

I'm still bummed about missing one, and considering driving out from Brooklyn tomorrow. How bad is it gonna be and what time would I have to get there? Other half this morning was a such a breeze, hoping it could happen again.

Still not too sure why you're explicitly addressing me. Not once have I complained about how a brewery decides to handle their can releases. Seems like you just saw that I announced what beers are being released tomorrow and didn't do your due diligence of inquiring about my perceptions/track record with regard to their releases.

Speaking as someone that shares your first name; we should be better than this.

Line info: as of about 9 am there are maybe 75 people in line. About 5 people have arrived in the couple minutes I've been in line.

Edit: my estimate is very approximate. I'm not good at guessing crowd sizes!

perhaps a more useful estimate: line is around the corner.

They just announced on social media that cans are sold out. There are still some BA Rebellion bottles, apparently.

Not surprised. I got there about 11:05 and we were made aware of the fact they were getting pretty low but my part of the line did get some. All-in-all, I only spent about 10-15 minutes in line, had a nice convo with the couple in front of me and I pretty much got what I was looking for anyway. Just wish the tap room was open for a quick one before I left.

At the risk of calling any more attention to this brewery, this beer is fantastic. This beer is in the same league as best in class. I like this much better than One.

Agree 100%, it is fantastic. Got a 4-pack of Fade to Jade, much less fantastic.

I've gone from being able to walk in and have my pick of sixth kegs for $100 to now not being able to even get a single can of their new beers. Sigh, I better figure this homebrew thing out more quickly so I can make my own dank juice bombs.

Not sure if the situation there will get better or worse. Its not terrible now, lines not too bad. With all of the great local options I suspect lines at most places will start to dissipate, but Sand City could be its own animal.
