There's nothing convenient about the current spot. South of the LIE and a bit further east would be fine by me.

I would say the only convenience is ample parking nearby and plenty of places to eat. Other than that, it’s not very convenient if you dont live nearby as there are no major highways that go anywhere near it (other than SM which is still 10 miles or more east).

I'll give you that. The one can release I was able to make it to (on a Friday I had off from work) was made more tolerable by being able to park a short walk from the Main Street alley entrance.

It is actually good news that it is tucked away on the North Shore. It might be an effort for some of us, but just think if it was in Central Nassau, it would put it in the reach of a lot more people, potentially making cans a lot harder to get. I appreciate the fact I can go there most of the time without waiting in lines and getting the cans I want that days or days after.

    Lol, that's a great reason.

You still have to wait in a line now just to get into the taproom. The town is currently squeezing the brewery with strict enforcement of the total number of people inside. Pretty sure that they are only doing it to Sand City. So basically at many popular times, somebody has to leave before they can let somebody inside. Sucks for the brewery on top of the two closings that the brewery did to them already. It's a lot of money that the brewery lost and is still losing. I guess they should move to somewhere where they are more appreciated.

I don’t want to fan the flames but I was up at the taproom this afternoon to get cans of Beachfront (missed cans but got a growler, damn this beer is fucking fantastic - tastes like a hoppy Pineapple Jaritos) and saw an advertisement on the shelf behind the bar for a Flex Warehouse for sale. Couldn’t see location or anything, and it could just be that someone who works there is trying to sell it, or it could mean they are definitely looking for a new space. All speculation my friends.

Yup - completely insane. They weren't even letting people line up in the alley when I was there so I don't see how the situation is sustainable as it is. People basically have to wait in the streets for people to leave, and deal with people who aren't aware of the situation just trying to go in. I was told the cap was 49 people which is lol small for that space.

As of right now, there's basically no point in trying to go to Sand City during peak hours or close to it. Dealing with the tap room situation isn't worth it. I have family out east and used to always stop at SC on the way out - no point in going anymore as I'm not waiting outside in the cold in a dicey line situation to get in. I'll only bother going during off peak hours but that's rare for me.

It is truly disgraceful that the town of Northport is squeezing out a small business run by good people that makes a high quality product. I will follow Sand City wherever they go because of the people and product quality. I imagine having SC was good for local businesses and restaurants too because of the crowds they brought in of people that a lot of probably spent money in town elsewhere too on a visit. Hopefully they relocate soon to somewhere that appreciates them.

My uncle lives in Northport and it became a regular occurrence when visiting for my family to go down into town, stop by Sand City for some pours, grab lunch, and hit up some of the shops. He has lived there a long time, and we hadn't been down into town in quite some time until Sand City opened. If they move, I imagine the town will lose some customers like us.

These two posts hit the nail on the head. I live on the South Shore, I hadn't been in Northport in decades. I was stunned by how "old school" everything was. I felt like Marty McFly in Back to the Future when he first walks into Hill Valley and "Mr. Sandman" was playing. I didn't think towns looked like that anymore.

I've been going up there for awhile now, and I've definitely noticed there's more people in town than ever. All the restaurants and diners are mobbed. The economy of that town center has to be booming. I rarely drink there because I'm driving usually but I've brought my kids to the ice cream place a few times and let them play on the playground near the water when I've picked up cans or filled a growler. We've gotten lunch in town, I've stopped at the pet store...etc, I would have never gone there if it weren't for SC. It's really absurd what's going on right now.

The past two times I've been there they asked if I was going for cans and that's it and I was so it's still in-and-out for me but it's definitely a shitty situation if you're looking to hang out.

Agreed with past few comments. I used to go out to Northport in highschool just as a destination, but since sand city has opened there, I am in the town on the regular...and not just for a quick can grab and run. Whenever I get babysitting, the wife and I tend to go to that area so we can enjoy sand city either before or after dinner plans. I now have favorite go-to spots in that town for stuff as does my family and many friends that I've reintroduced to Northport. Sand city leaves, I doubt I will return to Northport at all.

Anyone try the new Sand City/Finback collab "Beachfront Avenue?" Imperial IPA w/ pineapple. Sounds pretty delicious.

Whats the verdict on Southdown? I know it doesn't sell out as quick as the IPA's but the cold weather has me craving stouts. Is it worth a trip to pick it up?

I find it to be a good stout but honestly nothing next level over any stout you can find in the store. Are they releasing this today? Didnt see anything.

I love Southdown, it's right there with Founders Breakfast as far as I'm concerned. If they just released a new batch I'm sure it'll be there for awhile, no rush.

IMO Southdown is a good solid stout (3.75/5) but not otherworldly like their IPAs.

I don't believe they have Southdown in cans right now, but they almost always have it on tap.

Enough Already is damn good. Wish I bought more than a 4-pack. Definitely more true to a sour than a gose as there is very minimal salt on the backend. I had to try to pick some up. Fruits were injected beautifully. Color is awesome too.

All in all, 4.25 for me.
