Hobart beach is probably one of the few on the North shore that i wouldn't shutter at going to. The problem with the north shore beaches is they're rocky as could be, minimal, if any sand on most of them. Hobart has sand, but be prepared to be overwhelmed with sand/rock mixture. If you don't mind making the drive, go to a South Shore real beach, like Long Beach, Point Lookout, Lido Beach, Robert Moses even. Actually, Robert Moses would be the best bet on the south shore, because you could just ride right up the Sagtikos. It will be half an hour, but trust me, it'll be worth it not being on those rocky north shore beaches. And that's not just coming from someone who grew up on the south shore.

as far as food goes, depends what you want. You want a good gastropub go to Sapsuckers in Huntington or The Lark in east northport/commack. People go crazy over Maroni (not sure if it's still byob). If you prefer better food and a lackluster beer menu go to Old Fields. Or, in my opinion, go to Swallow in Huntington, it's one of the best restaurants on long island, but make a reservation even for a tuesday and even though they quadrupled their space, i've walked in on a thursday and had to wait 30 minutes.

+1 to going to Robert Moses. Fantastic beach, and well worth the extra driving time.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Cheers! Went to Robert Mosses and then took the Sagtikos up to Sand City. Northport had some sort of festival going on so we grabbed a meal at a serviceable seafood place in town before taking in the sunset and heading home. A fantastic day.

Really enjoyed the brewery. Sampled everything on tap. Liked everything I had, but the Southdown Stout and Mofosaic really stood out. Crowd was very friendly. Looking forward to having more of Sand City's offerings in the future. Cheers to another great brewery in New York State!

    Now back to work...boo...

Cans came out great, beers tasting very great swell. Anyone else notice around a week in the carbonation is almost gone? On all of my cans. Always been in the fridge since i got them, could this be because it was their first canning? Or what, just looking for a little insight.

You guys old enough to remember the legendary Warped Weeble Wobbles and their classic "Comin' Straight out of East Northport?"

Fuck 90210, they're coming after Compton.

Eh. They were a punk/hardcore band back in the early '90s that had a relatively decent following and that was the first song of one of their old 7" or tapes. They used to play with bands like VOD, Neglect and Long Island bands like that back in the day. Fun band.

The lack of carbonation was my only complaint with the Mofo can that I had on the day of it's release. That aside, it's a mosaic bomb with HUGE aromatics!

Any word as to when/what the next cans are gonna be? Fade to Jade and Close Talker would be nice.

    Are you listening, Sand City?

You guys weren't kidding about Fade to Jade. I got a 32oz fill from Hoptron (was out enjoying the weather in Patchogue with the family) and it's class. Liked it a lot. Tasted like a zesty lemondrop. Very clean and easy to drink, too.

Hoping for the same combo on the next release! Speaking of which, anyone have any info on when this might be?

Same here, loved both of the Mosaic beers, with the nod going to Second Wave. I didn't get cans, but was more than happy to get growlers.

Drinking my only (unfortunately) can of Second Wave and all I have to say is...impressive. The aroma alone is worth the price of admission. Hopefully I'm in town their next release.

Anyone happen to have any info on another can release from these guys? As far as I know they own their canning line and do not use Iron Heart or other mobile canning companies (assuming there are any). I figure they'd wanna get some use out of it...
